When did you know?

I think it helped that Ohio State played right into our hands. They have a lot more explosive players on their offense than we do but their insistence on playing at a snail’s pace (they were one of the few teams that plays slower than we do) limited the number of possessions. The only time they played with any urgency was at the end of the first half when they were able to gain 67 yards in about a minute and a half and miss the field goal. In the second half, their offense came alive but they work so slowly that the entire third quarter yielded only one possession per team. The back breaker to them was their second possession in the fourth quarter. They had just scored the touchdown to make it 17-14 then forced us to punt. They proceeded to spend the next four and a half minutes of clock time gaining 6 yards. We got the ball back and only needed a couple of first downs to put the nail in the coffin.

I honestly think Georgia might be the better matchup for us in the next round. We aren’t deep on the defensive line and we see Bain and Mesidor with their hands in their hips a lot because we rely on them to play a ton. Teams that play slow allow us to maximize their time on the field. It also give us ample opportunity to substitute when opponents huddle every down. If our opponents feel comfortable only running 59 plays (that’s how many plays OSU ran against us) that means we can keep our first team pass rush guys on the field for a majority of the snaps.
For a few years I read our fans trash Dawson and then talk about how elite OSU and Day are

I’m like yall actually should watch them

If Dawson drives you nuts Day would drive you to drink bleach by the gallon

They do the same stuff we do only double down on if they just happen to have elite talent

When OSU missed the FG at the end of the half, that's when I started to feel really good. I had a feeling they'd make it interesting in the second half, but I was confident it was going to be our night.

Did Fletcher get hurt on that long run right before Brown came in? He never came back in after it or did I miss seeing him?

Did they maybe leave Brown in because of ball security?
Was wondering the same. Looked like Fletcher was testing his knee as he got up.

Was actually happy about him taking over play calling duties. They couldn't beat Mich with him calling plays & our team is built that way so I knew him thinking he could throw the ball all over the field played into our hands. Hartline & chip stuck to the ground game

When we moved the ball in the first drive I felt good. When they couldn’t block the DL I thought it was out night.

When Ryan Day smirked when he shook Mario's hand in the lead up days before the game. Ryan Day ain't ever won a **** ******* thing himself. He's soft. His team is soft. **** *** nuts.

Our first drive gave me “we aren’t ready for this vibes.” Then that sack smacked me and said they can’t block us and we can absolutely win this game. Follow that up with walking it down the field before Fletcher’s fumble and I immediately thought OSU was in trouble.

IMO if Fletcher doesn’t fumble, we win by 20+ bc they never get it close enough for that 2nd half momentum and run to matter.

Thing about playoff games is it’s hard to figure out matchups from different conferences

In my head I felt like we were better on both lines than OSU but you just never know until it’s kicked off

For me when the announcers said “Watch out for Bain and Mesidor” on Ohio States first 3rd down I said to myself “let’s see what 3 and 4 got”

And they both got the sack

I legit was like

(Also yeah I was shirtless in front of the Christmas tree as well)

First two drives I knew we were the tougher team and Ohio State was in for a long night
Yes! I knew after a couple minutes of ball that we had the center of the ring.

I’d say Dawson took Day to school last night.

You have the best player in the country and he goes off for 157 yards receiving and you only get 14 points? JJ Smith is the only reason that game wasn’t 24-0

The beginning when we sacked Ohio st and made them go 3 and out was great but the pick 6 to go up 14-0 and make it a 14 point swing was really the play that I thought this team was going to pull it off. The great play calling dump off to Fletcher for 1st TD was amazing too and it appeared our playcalling and execution was spot on. We were focused last night and last 2 games. Our lines won the game for us no doubt.

Any chance that pit included the lottery numbers for tomorrow night.
If you go back and read the responses to that post in September, others asked me the same thing!

Believe me, if I knew 'em, my posts on this board would be a little different.

And my Canes Connection donations would be a helluva lot bigger...

Dawson gets a lot of **** and some of it is valid

But he coached his *** off last night. Our dudes were prepared

The stat sheet doesn’t light up the world but he was ahead of Patricia all night
That first touchdown pass to Fletcher was a thing of beauty. The announcers were going on about having 7 OLs but they were wrong. It was 8 because we had Alofaituli lined up at Hback in the witness protection jersey.

That was a brilliant case of letting everyone believe the **** about your tendencies only to pull a fast one.

Marty Brown TD!!

Who Knows Idk GIF
I’m not gonna lie. I was th same.

I watched a lot of Ohio State all year long because my daughter went there. They are a much better team than we made them look.

I feel like the people saying they knew early don’t really appreciate how good a team we beat last night. Which just makes it even more epic.

In person, once Scott scored we knew we had it. But when we didn’t get a field goal before the end of the first half I knew we were not going to cruise. Once OSU scored the second TD they had all the momentum. The totally shook OSU fans finally came back to life. It was time to lace the boots up. And my goodness did they ever!

It was an amazing scene watching OSU fans leave before Brown scored. They knew they were beat and they were scurrying out as quickly as possible. Bunch of arrogant pussies..

Dawson admitted he got ''greedy'' on that play that Beck got stacked and put Miami behind the chains and eventually out of FG range. I think he'd just run the ball inside on that 1st down if he had to do it all over again

My philosophy is to always try and get to three possession lead, so you should always protect that FG attempts. I see so many coaches nowadays just going for it in these situations

Pick 6 was the holy **** moment. I didn’t think we were gonna hold them off until we really started moving the ball on the ground on our last drive. Pretty much had permagrin that entire drive.

The first two drives Canes were stopping themselves, first two drives OSPoo couldn’t do ****

Agreed. It’s also didn’t help that on the next play Bell completely whiffed on his block and Mally got hit for a loss. Otherwise it seemed like they had that play blocked pretty well.

Right before we scored our last TD the camera cut to the crowd on the OSU side. They were already walking out. That's when I realized it was over.

Up to that point I was still sweating it out, worried that settling for a FG meant they could still score a TD on some flukey **** and win by a pt. But after seeing their fans bailing on them, I knew they were done. We scored right after that.
