When did you know this team was different?

With all due respect, MILF might be an appropriate tag line
I do dig alliteration, and it will say “Maude” next to it. Do not, however, think of myself as one. Will take it under consideration.

Keeping this thread back on topic…

Bullying Notre Dame and defensively it grew and grew and by FSU I knew the defense was absolutely elite
The great thing about the D in the FSU game was that by halftime I was 100% sure we had zero issues containing mobile QBs.

Ending the season with 4 straight wins and dominating Pitt at home, in the cold, was the confirmation for me. I was not going to be convinced until I was able to actually see us close the season on the ascent for once.

You can ask anyone that knows me, im an advocate of trench play. I knew it would take a minite but after we hired Mario and landed Cici and Bain off rip, i knew this day was coming soon. But i knew we had something special after beating ND week 1. Jobs not done tho...!

If he is the most important factor, Beck has to be subcorollary 1a

Definitely. But Dawson controls Beck. I want to get Beck's confidence really high by having more wide open receivers. The playaction does this with the threat of our bruising run game. It allows ol to engage blockers further downfield when we actually run it as wel.

I want more max protect as well.

Beck was seeing ghosts. Our pass game is disconnected from our run game. Dawson has married his pass game with Mario's run game but hasnt brideged the to well enough.

Too many of our plays seem to be Frankensteined together because theybcome from different philosophies. I know I keep talking playaction but we dont fake the run nearly enough.

Dawson's creativity on tape the last for games opened up our core run game, but he didn't ride Fletcher. If he installed more playaction off our core run conceptsit would make everything we do unstoppable and we would win the championship going away.

NCST. How many times has the passed over, underrated local kid played us and just dropped his nuts all over the team? It was ripe to happen. NCST had beaten GT, a whole week to prepare, big players coming back that game.

We absolutely hammered them. At that point I knew. If we could sneak into the playoffs we had a chance. Because they were focused. Everyone was locked in.

Saturday. The other games we won this year was us beating teams we were better then. Saturday was real adversity, real pressure, real stakes. They never looked shook and dug it out.

It came about in the Gator Tears thread the other day, and was very kindly created for me by @RVACane.

As his avi features Bea Arthur (Dorothy from The Golden Girls, who also starred in Maude), I am now blessed to have my own Golden Girl avi!

Thanks again, RVA!

Edit: and yes, it is Phoebe Cates from Fast Times!

November. It's hard to believe we've been so bad in November since 2016. For what it's worth, that year, I know we had too many losses to even think of qualifying for the playoff, but our offense that year was absolutely loaded and starting to run like a well oiled machine. I think they could have at least been competitive against the top teams that year

Starts with the head coach. We had beat Pitt down and Narduzzi calls that BS timeout in the closing seconds. So Mario says “ok fluck you then”, and we throw it up for one more TD to run it up. Old Mario doesn’t do that.

The moment Thomas had the pick 6 against NC State and he called out for Bailey at the goal line. That made me rethink the last 4 games I which I will honestly say “I could see us dropping any of them 4” VT/ Pitt games were a pleasure to see live.

This one is pretty simple for me. In years past, after losing a game like we did to SMU, I would have predicted we finished the season 8-4.

The fact that we not only came out and won the next 4, but HOW we did it, especially @ Pitt, is what showed me the team was different.
