When did you know this team was different?

Already stated but the late November playoff push.

NFL talking heads have a saying that “the season doesn’t begin until November”, and although Aug-Oct matters more in college football than the NFL, for the teams in the Top 16ish range, those final 4-5 games and the H2H act as the separators for the CFP committee.

I get the whole “CJ Carrs first start” thing but that ND team was a very good team n we dominated them until easing up on em on purpose. That’s when I knew this team was built different
Notre Dame is a good team but not championship level. This will be our first test against a championship level team and coaching staff.

We have proved that we can beat sub championship teams. This is our first test against a Championship level team.

The 8 minute touchdown drive to start the 3rd quarter against notre dame gave me hope. The final 3 plays sealed it for me.

That was the first time in a long time they physically manhandled a real opponent.

The first drive sitting at Hard Rock against ND when we mauled them up front. If you were there in person it was obvious that we had some legit dudes on the LOS

Like many others, the Pitt game sealed it for me. I debated going, but bought tickets during halftime of the Vtech game. My son and I went to our first Canes game 10 years ago and know hes 16 and dying to go. We went, and Pitt just didn't look like they belonged on the same field. The speed and physicality were night and day from years prior.

I live about 45 minutes south of Cleveland, and Saturday night my son had a game. Im decked in Canes gear and so many buckeye fans came up to me talking ****, but most of them said they were rooting for A&M, because if our defensive line.

Am I wrong for saying that I don't think we are different from last year?

We have a better D, which has helped a great deal, but the mentality has been the same. The culture in the building has done a 180 over the last 4 years - we just couldn't stop a nose bleed by the end of the season.

After ND game I thought this team was way better than I had anticipated. After SMU I thought I had been fooled again. After the NC St game the only thing stopping us from getting in the playoff was a committee screwjob.

The Louisville game.

Threw 4 picks and took their best effort and still barely lost. In the past, we get blown out with that performance.

After SMU, I knew 100% the problems were more coaching than talenr, as usual. but when Dawson switched it up and we caught fire, I was sure we could win it all if we somehow made the playoff.

Dawson is the most important factor to a title run. He has to be on top of his game.
Same here.
L'ville was lucky to get out of that with a win as poorly as we played it took a fingernail int for them to win it. SMU, we got completely screwed several times, and I didn't leave that game thinking we got our butt kicked.

I’d say ND would’ve been a real championship contender had they made it in but we can agree to disagree there. OSU is a great team that can also win it all but they are not the juggernaut ppl make them out be in my opinion. Beck & Dawson have to be better.

Gradually over the last 4 games of the regular season. ND game gave me hope just like it did in 2017. The lack of collapse following adversity is something we haven't seen in 20 years

The early wins over ND, UF, and USF were a good indicator, but wasn't until the final 4 games after the two losses. Specifically, at Pitt! They've dropped this type of game many times in the past. Go on the road to bit pesky Pitt and Narduzzi in cold weather. They were actually playing to get to the ACC Champ game as well and we beat them like a drum.

Is that avi fast times?
It came about in the Gator Tears thread the other day, and was very kindly created for me by @RVACane.

As his avi features Bea Arthur (Dorothy from The Golden Girls, who also starred in Maude), I am now blessed to have my own Golden Girl avi!

Thanks again, RVA!

Edit: and yes, it is Phoebe Cates from Fast Times!

Very funny! Great avi!

Great movie. And as you can probably tell I spent many hours "studying" that scene, that red bikini is seared into my adolescent brain.
