When did Golden "lose you?"

Honestly it was a process that started trending up with some of his year 2 losses. Brick by brick the confidence lowered with the ****** *** ending to last year which included this ped st fiasco. Last night the pillars pretty much collapsed and came tumbling down on to the nail in his coffin. I dont care if its Narduzzi, stoopes, foster, the clemson guy, pruitt, butch, chud, levitt, the ghost of ****** Vince Lombardi. Just get us a **** coach who can coach.

To be honest I was never in board with this hire, the guy simply is not cut out for a head coaching gig plain and simple. I never ever even post on here really, but even this thread has me having to come in.

I started losing faith after the Kansas State game and everything pretty much ended after the Duke game last year.

You couple that with the Penn State fiasco and not firing D'Onofrio at the end of last season and making some wholesale changes to the staff and you pretty much had me jumping ship.

Now, I just loathe him.

Golden hasn't lost me yet. But if we don't finish at least 3rd in the Coastal this year I may start losing faith in him. Beating A&M, Arkansas St., and Duke at home will go a long way in reinforcing my trust in him, the staff, and the process.

K-State fvcked me up. No excuse that a Canes team should ever get manhandled like that by any team. Ever.

Yep. KState was brutal. Worst part was the coaching staff did NOTHING to change it. Just kept lining up 5 in the box and watching Colin Klein fall forward 7 yards at a time.

I still had hope that DNof would get canned, but it's clear that a passive defense is what Golden wants. I hate watching my Canes just wait for contact.

Remember the UF game at the OB with Brock Berlin and we were getting our *** handed to us, then UF goes for that swing pass and Mo Sikes broke on it and blew him up for a huge loss?? When was the last time a db was set up or even encouraged to make plays like that?? You think a safety who breaks on something from the soft zone is gonna get any time for the rest of the game in this scheme??

It hurts to watch this passive crap.

He is probably a great guy and recruits seem to like him, but coaching-wise.....

That PSU fiasco really set wrong with me. I tried to give him some slack because who wouldn't want the chance to coach your alma mater? But the way it was handled was irritating to say the least. It could have been done much better. Strike One.
Monday's Louisville game. My joy turned to ashes in my mouth. After all that summer hype, what a letdown. No expectations for this season now. Just whatever. All that talk of being renewed....pffffftttttt. He won't let the guys play. Our opponents are playing chess while we play tiddlywinks. And yesterday's game told me that it's not going to change. Strike Two.
I want to support the team. But I don't know man. I hope to high heaven something changes, coaching, coaches, playing style, anything. Just no more of this. Please.

VT 2013. Losing to FSU last year I understand. But not having that team prepared at home against a bad VT team was inexcusable.

He has always struck me as a guy who cannot think for himself in terms of problem solving(X's and O's). This is the kind of guy that needs a rigid routine to follow because it provides security and guidance. These types are always extremely organized because they need something tangible to follow. Unfortunately for Golden and guys like him, the very essence of gameday coaching is analytical problem solving and being able to constantly adjust and adapt to ever changing variables. Golden has virtually none of these qualities. What he does possess are great people skills and the ability to administrate. He is a great CEO face of the program type.

When he was first hired I knew he would have to surround himself with a top notch staff. He needs coordinators who excel at scheming, game planning and teaching. Outside of Fisch and McDonald he has failed miserably in that capacity. With the aforementioned assistants gone, it became a staff of recruiters with no idea how to use/develop the talent they recruit.

To answer your question, the day he hired Kehoe back was a huge red flag to me. The Maryland 2011 game was also a huge red flag. Not only that we managed to lose to a clearly inferior team but I could tell something was very wrong in observing the defense that night. What disturbed me the most however were his post game comments in which he characterized our defenses inability to stop/adjust to the WR screen Maryland kept running as a function of Edsall trying to exploit our lack of depth on defense by "making us run". That is how over his head he is. Also, the reason we haven't and won't see any wrinkles or changes on defense is because he doesn't know how. He basically just installs Al Groh's UVA defense and follows it to the letter. When teams throw different or unexpected things at us he cant adjust because he doesn't know how.

Sorry for the rant. As far as when Golden completely lost me? The Duke game then the RAB sealed the coffin shut. I held out hope that talent could bail him out but after Monday night I now know that wont make a **** bit of appreciable difference. He has to go before he does any more harm. We are way past the point where the law of diminishing returns kicks in. From this point forward there will be no returns, only losses.

I hope that was supposed to be sarcasm.

After the bowl game he was asked:

Now that the sanctions have been lifted and you have your team
When will the U ever return to prominence?

He literally bowed his head in shame and said "I have no timeline"
Then he goes behind our back interviews for another job and comes back
Like nothing happened when his own alma mater wouldn't take him
I was done... Made zero adjustments to his staff or schemes

This right here plus 3 years of the worst defenses in CANES HISTORY started driving the nail home. Then the **** show on Monday killed any and all optimism I tried to have for the season. I'm done with Golden and staff and want either Butch back or Narduzzi hired.

I've got him on double secret probation until he shows signs of good game planning, game day adjustments, and winning against a well-coached and talented opponent. To me he's quickly running out of airspeed, altitude and excuses. Sadly, I don't see a highly visible potential replacement on the horizon.

If we can find that capable replacement he can come aboard with a ready ****nal. Now is the time to start collecting files.

I gave Shannon four years, and I'll do the same with Golden.

Would the opener have been a different outcome with Ryan Williams under center? Perhaps. The point is none of us know. One game into season number four is a bit premature to be calling for his head. Just my .02...

Now, don't try and be the cool guy and say, the Maryland game in 2011, or after his first press conference. For me, it was somewhere around the Wake Forest game last year, though the nail in the coffin was the Va Tech game. I stopped defending him after the Kansas State game in 2012, though I didn't start attacking him until the next season.

Just to play off of that, I got to thinking, and I stopped supporting Coker after the UNC and Clemson losses in 2004, though I didn't start ripping him publicly until the GT loss in 2005. I did have reservations about him going back to 2002, because I remember thinking, with all of this talent, we sure did play down to a lot of our opponents that year (WVU, Rutgers, even FSU). With Shannon, I stopped supporting/defending him after the GT game in 2008, though I didn't start ripping him until the next year. Some after the Clemson game, mostly after the UNC game, and all broke loose after the Wisconsin debacle.

started Monday night, not there yet, but getting close!!!! We better beat Nebraska. No excuses. We have talent. I heard someone get upset with the play of stacey Coley, why would you be happy if they are not throwing you plays that maximize your strengths, like fly/go routes!!! they had the kid running routes going across the middle in traffic. smh

It's not that we are losing these games, it's how we are losing them!!! He would not get to fly back with the team, if I'm the AD. Miami will recruit Miami with the right coach.

I'm not sure exactly when it was that he lost me, but I know that Canes games aren't any more important to me than regular season Angels' games anymore. I had season tickets from 1990-2012. But not last year or this year. Went to one game last year. Probably won't make it to one in 2014. So it was probably sometime in 2012.

Nebraska is way better than Louisville. Prepare your **** for a PrimeTime 55-10 rape.

Miami sucks now & we just can't come to grips with it. ITS OVER, THEY STINK!!!

VT. Sitting in the rain while THAT team ran up the score was enough for me.

I first wavered when he blamed the players after the Kansas State came. UF win got me back big time, but I got really irate when he threw Duke under the bus at USF game. Lost me in Tally when he had nothing in the second half to take advantage of noles' confusion. Completely gone at VT last year. Tried hard to get back with him this summer and drank all Koolaide I could, even though I have Cincy game in office pool as his last game. Monday was completely the end. Thought he was good CEO but inability to see and correct cause of problems is death blow. He must go; the sooner the better. I am fine if fired this morning-- assuming someone like Chud is replacement and not another loser from staff.
