What's your short list look like? Golden replacements

I cringe at the numbers Phillip Montgomery would put up with South Florida talent.

That's flat out scary. They'd drop 90 points on a team, just cause.

Google that man's name and imagine him with the talent Miami gets..

Only thing that gives me pause with a guy like that is that Briles is such a genius. How much is Montgomery, and how much is Briles?

It may be impossible to know.

Same thing with Narduzzi and D'Antonio.

Montogmory has been with briles since high school

Narduzzi since 04 in cincy

Oh. Thanks for googling. Back to my post and Chise's post.

Impossible to know (without testing it).

Relax and stop being so defensive to every comment/reply you get.

Being alongside the same coach for 17 years makes you question a lot of things about his success. He's a lifetime assistant a **** good one at that.

Do you know how long Helfrich was with Chip Kelly? I'm too lazy to look it up.

I think Oregon has slid quite a bit since Kelly left even though it might not show all that much in their record. He's had the best QB either of them ever had at Oregon, and that team doesn't look anywhere near as good as it did under Kelly.

Sometimes, the assistants under a great HC don't do nearly as well leading their own program.

With helfrich the transition is a lot easier because it's the same program. Same recruiting area. If we put Helfrich in Miami in 2010 are we in the same situation we are in now?

I agree with you that Oregon has slid tho. The rest of their schedule is tough I would not be surprised if they lose 2 more games.

Also he was only with chip for 4 years

Okay. So does that change the point?

Agreed.

I believe UM needs a coach with head coaching experience in a major conference. My personal top three:

1. Gary Patterson
2. Bret Bielema
3. David Cutcliffe

Coordinator Candidates

1. Kirby Smart
2. Pat Narduzzi
3. Mike Stoops

Outside the Box Candidate:

1. Rex Ryan

In an alternate reality where we have cold, calculating, son of ***** AD, he would already have negotiated a deal with Butch Davis for 5 years at bargain basement price because Butch wants back. Then use the Cincy loss coupled with the 13 days before the following game to fire Golden and #BBB. In a couple of years when Texas fires Charlie Strong (Texas is racist and will undermine Strong), hire him as DC/Head Coach in waiting.

GAME OVER.

Don't agree much with the first part, but the bring back Butch and Strong part is spot on

If Im looking at someone at Oregon, it would be Scott Frost for some reason. Been completely underwhelmed by Helfrich

Butch Davis, T Rob(young, energetic, and can relate to his players and get the most out of them, **** of a recruiter), Tim Ice Harris (South Florida legend, maybe could bring his spread offense with mobile qb, could finally see a qb run for a first down, aggressive fast defense), Jon Gruden (worst answer you could get is not interested). I would not take Narduzzi, great defensive mind but may be one dimensional. Narduzzi and Harris would be risky imo.

Narduzzi is too big a risk. We don't have the abilty to gamble. Has to be a proven winner, and it's going to cost a huge chunk of change.

Golden needs to fire Onofrio, Franklin and Paul Williams, and maybe a few others for him to succeed here.

* If he replaces Onofrio with a DC(guy who brings in his own proven system that will utilize the south FL athletes[NOT A 3-4]) that he will give the defense to, as in Golden won't touch the Defense and let this guy handle it. IMO a 4-3 works so much better with the South FL athletes b/c it relies more on speed and athleticism instead of needing big slow players everywhere(like Perryman should be playing at around 10 lbs lighter, McCord would be at the perfect weight as a WDE in 4-3, kid is a natural pass rusher but we try to make him this DE/LB hybrid that covers slot receivers, oh ya and we ruined Chickillo by putting way too much weight on him)

* Then find a new DLine and DB coach(TRob might be available at the end of the season but most likely will never coach here), or we could go out and get a great LB coach(we really need help getting our LBs to play at a higher level, loosing Barrow might have been a blessing if we actually make a good hire here, b/c we wouldn't have fired him and our LBs need to be playing better), move Hurlie to DBs(that is what he played and know the best).

The main thing is bringing in coaches that are proven developers of talent. We have amazing athletes down here with tons of talent, just need coaches who can get the most of these kids and make them better.

* IMO Ice Harris should not be on this staff as an actual position coach(is he really the best RB coach we could get?) and we will have to see just how much he helps our recruiting in south FL.

* Kehoe better watch his a$$ too, b/c our OLine has been underachieving especially when you think about last years line with Seantrel and Linder still here.

* I do think that Coley is improving, and he is by far our best recruiter and has done an amazing job getting Kaaya ready as a true Fr. as his QB coach.
