A lot of the afore mentioned names will be and if they all fall through, Butch may get it by default and with fanfare. People seem to forget he had record high APR and graduation rates while here. The admin loves that.

The man who likely gets the first call is Jedd Fisch. I doubt he takes the job.

That begs the Q: If the admin loves those APR stats, graduation rates, they cannot conveniently forget that he led us out of a very dark period once before, was clean as a whistle, and left us as the National Champions in waiting...

That's a non-sequitur if you ask me.

Another Q: How much turnover has their been in the BOT since 2000? How many holdovers are there who might harbor a grudge (for whatever reason) that would make them opt for others when he's readily available?

like the guy, but I don't see it. ZERO head coaching experience for one, and doesn't strike me as a guy with the gravitas for the chief executive spot. Strikes me as a career assistant, and any level.

The best they can do is a position coach? Miami hasn't hired a position coach as HC since before any of us were born. Where the **** do people get this nonsense?

All do respect to some people, but anyone who suggests a young college coordinator is a freaking moron. It hasn't worked here in-----ever. You cannot afford a risk like that. Randy Shannon was an elite DC and won a title here, was from here, was a known recruiter. The University of Miami is not the kind of job to learn on the job.

Pruitt and Kirby and Narduzzi and Frost maybe great coordinators but you just can't hire them at this program at this time. Get a guy who has shown not only the ability to scheme but who has experience running a program.
 
It's butch davis and then everybody else. This program DESPERATELY needs some credibility. Butch brings that. Maybe his ceiling isn't as high as it used to be, but Butch is proven and knows what he is doing. His level of risk is pretty low. Unless we're throwing out huge money, Butch is our best option and brings a proven level of competence that we haven't had in 14 years. We can't afford another ***** up.

This is a foolish post but the main reason is because it lacks logic. These coaches are not born HC. They must rise up through the ranks and start somewhere.

You want to hand a difficult to manage program to a guy who has never been in charge of anything...and a guy who has very little actual coaching experience outside of coaching defensive backs in high school. We would be in no position to hire a project at this stage. He's been a defensive coordinator for 19 games. Ever seen him speak to the media? I haven't. The risk involved in hiring a guy like Pruitt to run this program would be off the charts.

You want to hand a difficult to manage program to a guy who has never been in charge of anything...and a guy who has very little actual coaching experience outside of coaching defensive backs in high school. We would be in no position to hire a project at this stage. He's been a defensive coordinator for 19 games. Ever seen him speak to the media? I haven't. Oh because HC exp guarantees results (i.e. Golden). And for your question, the answer is yes (for the right guy).

HC experience doesn't guarantee results. But lack of HC experience in our case in the last 40 years has guaranteed failure.

And what exactly convinces you that Jeremy Pruitt, a guy that has held 11 jobs in 17 years (mostly high schools) is the right guy? Is it his reputation for ruffling feathers of his colleagues, being difficult to work with? Perhaps the way he left FSU in the middle of a renegotiation for more money? I'm just wondering.
 
I'm all aboard the Narduzzi train if we go coordinator.

But I have to admit, Gary Patterson's name rings to me this time around. Patterson and his counterpart Chris Petersen were always comfortable at their smaller schools. It's all about the right timing and opportunity though. Petersen left for UW once he realized he couldn't get into the playoffs with Boise. Gary, meanwhile, coaches a school that is, at best, 4th option in his own state. This guy has to wake up and go against an SEC Texas A&M, a surging Baylor program, Texas always being Texas and that's before Oklahoma and Texas Tech come to the table. Our best bet would be that Patterson realizes he will never win big at TCU. His salary is $3.4 million, higher than Al but not in the stratosphere. Could he be attainable if we can pay comparable salary and sell him on winning big at Miami? I know it's not probable, but it worked with Petersen. Maybe wishful thinking...

I think Stoops needs to be the guy. Dude would kill it here. Knows the program, was here when we were winning. Would kill it recruiting and would make the defense respectable again.
 
With the current state of the program, it MUST be a Miami guy. Someone who has seen what it takes to be good down here. I think the only 3 names that should be considered in the first group are

Butch
Stoops
Chud

After this group, Narduzzi, Patterson, McNeil or Pruitt

Side note: would there be a better recruiting duo than Stoops and Coley together? Makes sense why FSU was dominating the recruiting trail.
