Most importantly we need a LB coach that can recruit hard

I thought I read somewhere that Steele and Gattis would only be responsible for the offense and defense respectively. I think the last 4 positions will most likely be QB, TE, WR, and LB. I think someone mentioned Addae would have the whole room.
Gattis is coaching WR

247 Update on Assistants:

“ It sounds to me like Jahmile Addae could be responsible for the entire secondary with DVD being his right hand man while holding an analyst title. I think Mario Cristobal could have a defensive ends coach as a specialty position with Joe Salave’a handling defensive tackles.

I’m still not clear what linebacker looks like. Someone in the building believes Kevin Steele could handle that role along with the DC title, but I’ve also heard other names who could come in and coach backers. Auburn’s Christian Robinson is one that keeps coming up.

Miami could potentially have an OLB/nickle/strikers type of staffer similar to was Ishmael Aristide was if they’re not going to go with a corners guy.

On offense, Miami will need to hire a quarterbacks coach and make a decision on whether Stephen Field will handle the tight ends or if they look elsewhere.

With Dennis Smith, I’m still not certain he’s going to have an on-field role. It sounds to me like he could be a special teams quality control type who also helps with recruiting. He has a background in player personnel and as a recruiting coordinator.

I have seen the Travis Williams reports. I’m digging on that but not sure that’s going to happen given he holds a co-DC title at UCF.”

QB/Co-OC - either ponce, Gleeson, or Beck would be badass (pipe dreams though)
TE - Field but would prefer to have Moore, if possible
LBs - **** it would be awesome to have TWill byke or wouldn’t mind Strong

Then could go a couple directions…
DE/OLB - Partridge would be perfect but am down with Robinson
Safeties - Keith Heyward would be good addition

I'd like an Edge/OLB coach since that position has gotten so important these days
I wouldn't argue with a dedicated ST coach if he's legit otherwise we could do the LB/ST coach thing again. bring back Patke!

I guess it really depends on what Steele wants to with his unit.

Offensively it's gotta be a TE coach and a QB coach. Personally, I'd like to see them chase an up and comer at QB coach. Someone who's trying to make a name for himself as a future OC. Maybe someone to groom if Gattis does a great job and moves on in a few years.

I'm not talking names....we have 50 threads for that. But we can have 10 assistant, on-field coaches. So far, we have hired 6:

Josh Gattis -- Not official, but widely expected he will be the OC and coach WRs
Kevin Smiff -- RBs
Alex Mirabal -- OL
Joe Salave'a -- DL
Kevin Steele -- DC, and he has experience coaching LBs as well
Jahmile Addae -- DB

That leaves 4 more to hire. If you were Mario, where would those coaches be deployed?

CAVEAT: All the choices will contain QB coach and TE coach, as I believe it's a certainty that Mario will hire guys to man these 2 spots for sure. Perhaps the TE coach doubles as the ST coach, perhaps he has the Grad Asst from La Tech handle it and someone just helps on gameday, I'm not sure. But we're hiring a QB coach and someone has to coach the Tight Ends. Also, with this being said, you're almost definitely going to hire 2 on offense and 2 on defense, possibly with an ST coach stuck somewhere in there. Which way are you leaning and why?
Well **** we stole from UGa once, let’s grab Hartley back as TE coach. Money talks.

Move Field off the field to recruiting but keep him on staff!

Hartley can have the ST coordinator title if you want. Just no complicated schemes like under CMR. Simple and effective. Catch, block and run like ****. Leave specialists alone. Focus on KR and PR.

D. Smith has been telling recruits since he got here, he is the ST's coach. If the leak is true, Steele will not be the LB's coach. I would be happy with either. If Mario is hiring a LB coach, he is interviewing more than those 2.

Could still be off-field coach with primary focus on ST

Only one choice had st coach. One of our biggest areas of need coaching. Kickers are good but coverage and returns have sucked for a few years

I dont see why we’d have a separate coach for STs, have addae or an analyst do it. Dont need to waste a spot on it imo
Agree with that but hope someone we hire has history of being good with special teams. The author of the thread is the one who put it down as a separate coach in his poll.

Addae has a good history for it, I think we’re gonna have a big support staff so someone should be utilized there.

Ill take take QB,LB,TE,WR.
