What's your key matchup of the game?

Aside from the typical trench/stop the run answer and not sure if already mentioned but one thing I’m worried/concerned with is our pass defense out of the slot.

Their big play makers are these type of receivers who can create mismatches there as well rack up YAC

I think Lightfoot could be a difference maker in passing downs. If Bain or Mesidor move inside on 3rd down Lightfoot has shown some twitch to help with a mobile qb.

most important players for me are:

poyser, thomas and whoever plays nickel to take away chunk plays and run support. everything else IMO will go down as planned.

they need to tackle like getting elite snowbunny puzzy next week depends strictly on it

______________
it is meng, not mane!

Offense score on first possession. Offense has struggled big time first drives. The stadium is going to be rocking. The longer the offense takes to score the louder it will get. It's time dawson draws up his best opening drive of the season

Just chip Howell if he lines up on Bell on pure pass situations and he will be shut down like Texas did.

The key to this game is
1. Stopping Craver and Concepcion
2. Winning turnover battle
3. Penalties

i expect lots of quick passes (aka Louisville), expect passes to their RB via wheel routes and QB designed draws similar to what ND VT and FSU QBs did

bit worried about OJ getting beat with their speed

OJ is the last player you should be worried about.

A s s to mouth will do everything possible to take away Toney, it is imperative that Dawson has a means to put Daniels/Trader/TE's in a position to capitalize on that and Beck to carry this out.

Also, pass rush lane integrity, keep Reed in the pocket and we'll get our hands on several passes.

The biggest one to me is Miami versus themselves.

If we have less than 5 penalties and don’t turn the ball over and lose, feel free to come back here and call me a big dummy. I don’t think that’s happening.

We are better than them. We have the better QB and the better lines. You give me that, and I’ll take my chances. We’ve seen what happens when we play clean, and we’ve seen what happens when we don’t. If we stay on schedule, we’re gonna score. And I don’t think they score enough on us to win without help (turnovers).

If you want one player to watch, give me Pringle versus their linebackers. They’re very pedestrian against the run. Our line hasn’t been great in run push, but I think there will be a few opportunities in this game where Pringle will be one on one with a backer. Either in the middle or in the throw game. If we can generate a few explosives on those plays, we’re gonna score points. The 3-4 yard gains need to be 10+ yard gains. This defense will let you get some of those.

A&M is 88th in 10+ yard runs allowed.
There 106th in 20+ yard runs allowed.
They’re 122nd in 30+ yard runs allowed.

This team has given up 7 runs of 40+ yards this year. Miami’s defense gave up ZERO.

This is somewhat of a “bad on bad”, as we’ve been poor at generating explosives on the ground. I’m banking on Pringle popping a couple.

This game will be won in the trenches. Miami's OL vs A&M DL and Miami's DL vs A&M OL. I think miami can and will win. But whoever wins the line of scrimmage will dictate the outcome of the game.

Go canes!

We've been lights out on defense this season aside for what? 5 quarters? I think that unit will play well no matter what (knocks on wood)

For me it's our weapons outside of Toney. Elko with two weeks and his athletes will have a plan for Toney. He'll get loose because he's a stud but others are going to have openings they have to capitalize on. Would love the time off to bring out some more of that potential in Lofton.
