What's Elite About Fsu Staff?

You don't need an all star staff to win. You need a properly run program that has solid coaches and that can recruit very well. I think so far we have those ingredients. Just need the S&C coach to seal the deal.

The staff as it stands now (aside from the S&C coach) is good enough to make the playoffs and win it all. They just have to recruit on par with FSU, Clemson, etc. If Richt and staff can do that then we will be in great shape

You think they can recruit very well, but so far our 2016 class is below average for Miami

If you think this is a playoff team you're in for a rude awakening when we win 7 games next year. You're riding the wave of the new coach but ignoring all the early warning signs

Funny here we are in 2015 where ppl place a huge imphasis on freaking assistant corches.. I bet half these ppl couldn't name 5 assistant corches on the 01 squad without go ogling it.

Lol at making the playoffs next year. No one said that. I said the staff is good enough to make the playoffs if they recruit as well as FSU, Clemson, etc. That wasn't meant for the 2016 season. I think we can win the coastal next year but that's as far as I'd go.

But in three to four years, if hypothetically this staff is exactly the same, then yes it's a playoff capable staff. But that all depends on how well they recruit

Trickett and Hagins are elite. Brewster is an elite recruiter. And their S&C and nutrition program is elite. Despite his hayseed demeanor, Jizzbo is a very bright guy. He's made huge changes to the infrastructure at FSU.

They have 2 great coaches, one recruiter and the rest are meh. Crown them.

The class isn't as high as it should be because we fired a coach mid season and had only a few weeks till the dead period. Recruiting will ramp up now

Sigh…….
Look, Jimbo isn't perfect but down playing what he has done at FSU is just another example of biased fandom. Did Winston take him over the top? Absolutely, but people forget he landed Winston, when Winston was from the state of Alabama and a major priority for Saban. This was only his 5th year as a HC and he already has a MNC and don't kid yourself, he had a rebuild at FSU. Now it surely helps when the university is behind you, but you gotta give credit where credit is due. This last year was gonna be a down year, all you had to do was looking at things objectively. They had some hope that maybe Gholston could come in and salvage the season, but in the end they were too one dimensional. Still lets take a look what really happened in their terrible season, they played Clemson on the road close, only to lose by 10. They also lost a game they shouldn't have to GT on a crazy play at the end. Finally they got handled by Houston, which I would say was fairly embarrassing. If they weren't our rivals, or if that was the storyline for a season for our own Canes, we would be talking about how we have turned the corner. Next year they have nasty loaded defense, and they will have someone with talent playing QB in Francois and that Henry kid is coming in also. They can be competing for a playoff soon enough unfortunately.

In terms of their staff, if you don't consider Haggens elite, well there is no discussion to be had about CFB with you. Trickett has been regarded as one of the best at his position for a long time, he does suck at recruiting though. After that, you still have very good but not great coaches. The problems is that as fans its natural to downplay their not so marquee guys just as we naturally try to make our guys who are similar into being better than they are. They need to replace their DC, they didnt do well there replacing Pruitt and it showed this year.

LOL Rick Trickett blows. Just ask FSU fans. They have been calling for his head for years. Cook gets 33 yards vs an AAC team with zero room to move.

As much as we hate Brewster there are few recruiters better than him

Dawsey is an elite recruiter also. He owns the Tampa Bay area. Hagins get the most out of his players because he relates to the ones that come from rough backgrounds. He is like that 1 old head you call unc. Cool as ****, and knows his **** when it comes to the defensive line. Players will run through a wall for him and he also gets anyone he wants from Polk County. Trickett has a system on an offensive line that has worked since Bowden was there. He likes tall, quick, athletic offensive lineman. His offensive line has never really been a weakness for them, hence the fact that he is still there after all these years. That is there only 3 coaches I have an opinion of. The rest were not on the staff when I was there.

**** I forgot about coach vic, the S / C coach. Everyone talks about the guy from Alabama, but IMO, vic is one of the best around. Very similar to the guy from Bama also. High intensity guy.

Imagine how terrible FSU would be if they didn't cover up all the crimes their players commit. Seriously, they'd be a 6 win team, if that.
Pretty much everyone on fsu message board agrees they are not elite after their bowl loss. Many are wondering if Winston made jumbo look better then he actually is

Get the best players, keep assistants around for awhile to build continuity, and dominate on 3.

Florida State has two Mac quarterbacks, and not one bona fide playmaker at receiver. Houston stacked the box against them.

They barely beat Al Golden. We're gonna start a nice little run on them starting this year.

yeah, because no one wanted to play for al golden and richt only had nine days, including the day of his announcement, to recruit before the dead period. we put two very solid players in the class since then, and we have a very long month until signing day with one of the best recruiting head coaches in the country.

Everybody is complaining because their isn't a "elite" coach at every position. Look at fsu coaching staff and tell me what's special about it.

Jimbo Fisher Florida State Head Coach
Rick Trickett Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line
Charles Kelly Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs
Bill Miller Linebackers
Randy Sanders Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Tim Brewster Recruiting Coordinator/Tight Ends
Lawrence Dawsey Co-Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers
Brad Lawing Defense Ends/Outside Linebackers
Jay Graham Running Backs/Special Teams Coordinator
Odell Haggins Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Tackles

Their is nonthing special about their staff but they have been extremely successful. It starts at the top with the hc. We have a guy that has won 145 games. You don't luck up and win that many games so i'm sure richt knows what he is doing.

Listen, if it were not for Jameis, they would not have a Natty... It's that simple. Unless your Alabama, who runs a professional NFL team, you need a Heisman type QB and some luck to make it to the show.

Jimmies and the Joes. Coaching plays a huge part but you also need players. Saban is the best in the business but he also has elite talent everywhere on his roster.

And you will find a lot of FSU fans who hate Trickett.

That's funny because a month ago, you didn't even want Richt. I was calling for Richt and you were calling for MAC coaches. Now the staff headed by my guy is good enough to make the playoffs? LOL come on dude
