What year is Mario seriously on the hot seat?

Assuming, as I do, that this thing isn't going to get any better. This appears to be the Titanic halfway to hitting the iceberg. Another epic failed head coaching hire but with serious dollar ramifications.

I believe the Hot Seat starts in Year 3 in the second half of the season, he continues on through Year 4 and 5. Then there is a mutiny among fans, donors, etc.

A buyout IMO is a forgone conclusion.

Then rinse and repeat the next Miami player/assistant coach hire. The [BGCOLOR=initial]only exception to this is that I would wholeheartedly welcome an interview with Rhett Lashlee.[/BGCOLOR]

He’s safe through next year easily.

Even if he loses out and secures the award for worst start through two years at the University of Miami since the mid 70’s, he gets a fourth year no questions asked. Even if we somehow win seven games with a joke of a 2024 schedule + lose to UF and FSU again, he gets a fourth year no questions asked.

I’d start inquiring Year 4. A lot can happen between now and then, but in terms of worst-case scenario, it would take something catastrophic like 4-8 or 3-9 to get the board to consider firing him. Probably gets Golden-esque 4 years, look hard at year 5.

Coldest seat in America right now

I'd say year 4 or 5. If Mario fails a situation that may make sense would be to keep Mario on as a recruiting coordinator of some type and go get a true x's and o coach.

A guy I think would do well here with our talent is Mike Gundy. Yes he's probably a terrible cultural fit but paired with Mario's recruiting prowess in my opinion would make a formidable program.

No, you don't keep failed coaches around for anything.

Not talking **** to you but cultural fit is the most overused talking point with Miami imo. Kids just want you to develop them and win, anything else is icing on the cake.

The big ? is what is his buyout.Even though he has a 10 year deal,I would assume the buyout has to be somewhat reasonable after season 5.But this is miami and our BOT was desperate and went all out to bring him from Oregon so I can see Mario's agent taking advantage of that situation and making firing him almost impossible.Either way is going to be fun watching this **** show in the coming years.

You see miami paying 2 large salaries?

And a for a very, very long time. Let’s see where we are in a year.
Yeah I mean it’s why he’s even here in the first place

He’s going to get time to execute his plan. Whether that plan works or not remains to be seen, but there is zero chance he’s going anywhere anytime soon

I’m also not necessarily saying it’s a bad thing. The carousel of coaches and the lack of real investment has been a huge issue over the years so if we were going to hire a coach we needed to step it up
