What will the D look like?

As much as it sucks for all involved the bottom line is that clear rules were broken and there was no room for leniency given our probation and recent past!

Sadly we will have to fill those shoes. To me AQM is easier to to handle given our depth at that position- of course it hurts but I think it can be handled.

The mayor concern is Grace's dismissal. We are looking at a very young, still unproven bunch and they will have to defend big O line like they have never seen before, cover tight ends, tackle great running backs etc. This is in no way any sort of criticism on Shaq and company who I believe are the goods but the fact that they are TRUE freshman is a big deal.

What do we do now? More nickel? Serious question. I am at a loss...

Our DL will be top 5 in the county as the talent is just sick there . Our LB have a ton of talent but if we get any injuries we are screwed and will have to have some safeties moved over or something .

Yeah didn't add Colbert anywhere but you replace him with Redwine and Redwine plays the nickel at times or in that 5-6 DB Set he plays

AQM was a top tier player but I think Demetrius can have a big year. He looked good in the spring game and I think he'll start to reach
his potential this year

Grace was a huge loss but if Owens can get healthy and play close to the level he was at before combined with the development of Perry, Gordinier, and Mcclouds talent I think we'll be ok.

Whatever it looks like, I'm pumped to see Shaq and the other youngsters because they are going to be great. I'm also excited to see everyone else in a new scheme. I'm not delusional, and I don't think we'll suddenly be the '89, '91 or '01 defense, but I think, even without AQM, Grace and no depth at DB and LB, we'll be improved. Even if it's not a HUGE improvement on the scoreboard, I think we're going to like the scheme while we're getting torched, which should make it a little easier to swallow.
 
Freshmen can make an impact. Remember, the 2008 defense gave UF fits with Forston,Spence, & Harris in the starting lineup...there were also some RS-Fr on that D.
