What we need to be elite...

God will we ever be at that bama level? Fuq is there hope someone tell me please, no homers just real football gurus

Not with this staff.

Our staff is so green compared to UGA, Alabama, etc. No way do Richt Jr., Rumph or Banda get hired at those schools.

Searles is a JAG that was hated at VT. Diaz has never fielded an elite defense, and was run out of Texas, and fans here are starting to see why.

No OC. Thomas Brown does nothing; UGA backs are just as good as they were, and he provides NOTHING in terms of game planning. Hartley is a disgrace. I mean a good amount of the smart fans like Chise etc were disappointed in Rick's staph choices.

I've went back and re watched a lot of our games. At first glance I thought the play calling sucked. While perhaps That could be improved the biggest problem was simple execution. The majority of pass plays were open. Weather it's the running or passing game execution is relative to talent.
It's frustrating to watch talent getting wasted because lack of it elsewhere, but those holes will get filled. Looking forward to big improvement next year.

A happy new year to all in Hurricane Land!

What kind of RB is Lingard? Don't think he's the Saquon Barkley power back type. More like a very elite version of Homer. Lingard was 6', 190 last I looked. Barkley, in contrast, is 5'11, 230.

Also, at QB, you're asking/expecting a lot out of a QB (whichever one it is) who has never taken a game snap in college.

Barkley was 5-11, 190 coming out of HS. He's listed as 5-11, 228 now.

Honestly I think part of the problem with constantly comparing ourselves to Alabama is that it plays into their hands.

We have our own style (speed) and should build our roster accordingly. Of course we need to get better in the trenches, but we should never look to emulate the grinding, attritional programme that Alabama has built. We simply don't have their resources.

We beat them by keeping those elite SoFl athletes at home and beating them in one on one matchups before their ridiculous depth can wear us down, like it does everyone else.

And we cant even do that..........I wish we can go into bamas territory and steal a 5 star or high 4 star they want. They can do it to us with ease and we cant do it to them?

We can get all the recruits we want but with the current high school staff... ACC championship is our limit.

This. We're getting some good players on the OL/DL, but not near as many as we need. Look at the 4 playoff teams this year, and their OL/DL recruiting over the last 2 cycles is a huge difference IMO.

I've got full confidence we'll be able to stack talent at the skill positions, but both lines is what will make or break us.

Lingard weighed in at 196 at the ua game check in.

Barkley was 208 at The Opening his senior year and is in the the 230 range now. Walton was 182 at The Opening and is now in the 205 range.

About 20 lbs. is what you can expect a RB to put on weight wise from HS to College. I'd expect Lingard to play in 215 lb. range.

To me has a Melvin Gordon type build vs. a Barkley type.
