What was your most disappointing loss/hardest-to-take loss as a Canes fan?

Fiasco Bowl has to be #1.

I was in the OB for both the '94 Washington game that broke the 58 game streak and the last game vs. UVA where we didn't even show up. That was a good but not great UW team. We went up 14-3 then **** the bed with turnovers and the defense quit. In '07 vs UVA that was just inexplicable. That UVA team wasn't even that great. They had beaten Wake by 1 point the week before then lost to VT the week after. I thought that was the low point until FIU '19, as Memnon described.
 
After traveling to every playoff game last year and then the NC game…..that bus ride back to the parking garage was full of canes fans and you could hear a pin drop in there. Brutal.

I would have bet a lot of money we weren’t going to lose to Indiana at home for a NC. It just seemed like destiny.

However like someone above said it’s hard to feel too bad about it bc we made the NC game.

That FIU game was just absolute rock bottom for this program. Lame duck HC and losing to FIU in the shadows of the OB.
 
Fiesta bowl obviously especially knowing it went downhill for the next 20 plus years

Recently I’d say that LSU game in what 18? Really thought we were turning the corner and I work with the a lot of LSU alums and was really talking up our team and for them to get rolled by (at the time) lesser QB in burrow who wasn’t Joe burrrr yet was really disappointing had to eat crow at work for awhile
 
Having to call my family back into the house from celebrating on the patio because a flag had been thrown and then the drive home after the loss…brutal.
Getting beat is getting beat, getting robbed is another thing.
 
One that hasn’t been said is SMU 2025. Die hard Red Sox fan and it reminded me of pre 2004 where the team was cursed and they were never going to get over the hump again.

I was completely defeated after that. Thank god it all worked out
 
93 Sugar Bowl against Bama was the toughest for me, followed by 94 Washington.

Mostly because I was 13-14 years old for those, and didn’t have the life experience yet to understand how little importance sport has in the grand scheme of things.
