What was your most disappointing loss/hardest-to-take loss as a Canes fan?

2003 Fiesta Bowl. Just a brutal roller coaster of emotions.

Clarett stripping ball away from Sean Taylor after INT
McGahee injury
Big Roscoe Parrish return
Long FG to send game to OT
The "pass interference" after we thought No 6 was won
I was there and never felt we had control, bitter, bitter loss. sat next to an OSU guy and his wife a their kid maybe 6 years old. this guy was cursing and swearing at us the whole game. cemented my hatred for the Bucks

FIU and it’s not close. Absolute rock bottom. Most dejected as a fan I’ve ever been. I truly thought the program was done.

that. field was total ****, sitting in end zone when Coopers knee went , knew it was bad

**** look like a minefield the way chunks of grass was looking. I think it was being used for a soccer game previous or something, but clearly it was patch work.

03 Fiesta is its own list. I'm still not over it and never will be.

@ Syracuse 24. Up 21 with playoffs on the line. I can't watch any highlights from that season. #1 offense, cake schedule, and blew it.

GT 24. Seriously.

UVA 07 - Utter disgrace to closeout the OB.

92 Sugar. Team partied up and wasn't ready. Should have won that game handily.

Very nice work. I agree on most but 88 ND Gary game is higher on my list.

The first game i could remember shedding tears about was///

The game Lamar Thomas got stripped against Bama. I have never liked them since...and i was a kid like really young...it may be the first time i ever saw um lose or something but it has stuck and i cried. lol

03 Rose Bowl ive never rewatched.

Im also a Dolphins fan so im built for losses...but a few have got me.

October 30, 2004, 31-28 loss to North Carolina,.

I had just moving to Atlanta and my girlfriend from college drove up from FAMU to spend the weekend with me, I was so ****ed I went in my room, locked the door, and left her on the couch. That was the day I knew Miami was no longer the Miami.
Was that the Connor Barth game? Cried my eyes out as a kid

I literally couldn’t sleep after the 92’ Sugar Bowl. I saw something’s happen that never happen to a Miami team back then. We looked so helpless after winning 29 straight games. Then Lamar being tracked down. How? We had Miami speed back then. It was real eye opener. 86’ we were better, 88’ we were better and we weren’t man handled like that. Also looking back that was the beginning of the end in that era.

That CWS game is an underrated loss🤬🤬🤬🤬

Can't recall....maybe MTenn I have thrown a glass and a remote.

Both disentgrated upon hitting the wall, I regret the remote.

Indiana is up there. (Weird sentence to type).

Yes there have been many brutal losses (MTSU, FIU, USF, Clemson, FSU heart breakers, ND, etc.) But Indiana had a chance to be cathartic. We wandered the desert for a generation. We hired leaders. We turned the corner as a progrum. We made a truly magical playoff run that included 4 espn classic games and a few all-time plays (Tourre goal line stuff, Fitz pick, Fletcher bully ball, Scott pick 6, Beck scramble TD, Mali and Mali and Mali and Mali).

And then Indiana. A fairy tale opportunity to reclaim the summit in our own stadium in front of our own families. To tie the loop back to where it started in ‘83 so elegantly.

It never felt like we were in command of that as we had been in the previous games. Yet in spite of ourselves we kept ourselves squarely in the game with an opportunity to win until the very end.

Blocked punt. Under thrown pass. Mendoza. Devastating.

I still am unable to rewatch that game. This season we have the opportunity to erase some of that pain. But until we win it all again, this loss hangs the heaviest.
I don’t know how old you are…but Indiana isn’t ****. Imagine being dominant and having unexplainable **** (Vinny betting…all I got)…Gino on acid or something….playing like **** to get to OT and having a bought official take it away from us…..

Did I want last year to end differently? Sure. Indiana fans after drumming Oregon and Alabama were talking **** about beating us by 28+. That did not go down absent a horrific missed block and pick.

We are back in the mix. There was a time we’re there was no light at the end of the tunnel…and not 1997, which surely seemed like that….Shalala we will not spend anything like the rest are on football coaches, etc….that cost us years until now. I pray last year was not our last chance, but indications are that we will be in play for while…and that is something that has been missing for 22 fackin years.

We should legitimately have 9 titles in my estimation since 1980. The 22 years since the 2002 robbery shouldn’t have happened…but I am beyond stoked to be back in the discussion.

I will never get over 2003 Fiesta Bowl no matter how many times we beat OSU. I thought beating them last year in a game that meant so much would give me closure but it did not. That 2003 Fiesta Bowl was such an awful performance by our team combined with the horrific behavior of their fans at the game.

03 Fiesta

I was young, but cried my eyes out when we lost to Alabama in 91/92? Still remember George Teague stripping Lamar Thomas? Brutal.

… but Warren Morris and LSU in the CWS might be the most gut wrenching Miami loss I ever watched.

Born in 1997 so was pretty young for the 03 fiesta bowl.

Probably gotta say the fiu loss. Was just so embarrassing to explain to non Miami fans that we just lost to them.

Syracuse last year was brutal too

2003 fiesta bowl/ NC game vs Indiana/ 87 fiesta bowl
1999 Penn State game low key hurt me bad
2016 FSU
98 and 99 VT
97 fsu (that blowout left a bad taste)
2003 vs Tennessee

Having Kyle Wright come back from injury and watching us get obliterated by Virginia in the final game of the Orange Bowl is literally worse than anything else I’ve ever seen and it’s not even close.

Literally in front of dozens of legends, 70k fans in the stadium and millions watching on TV

The sobering reality that we were truly a dead program that would likely never come back was unavoidable

It was such a collective smack in the face what a joke we had become

Took 20 years to wash that off but we are here now
This was the first game that came to my mind. Truly depressing night getting beat that bad with zero resistance.
