What to expect from TVD going forward.

Yeah he shows it on his face when something's amiss. I saw 'the look' those first three drives and figured we were headed bad. He did have a couple balls dropped that would have helped immensely, and our run blocking wasn't very good 2nd half.

Too funny. I was saying the same thing when he came off that 2nd drive... almost looked like my schizophrenic brother in law when his doc changes up his med dosage. .. a glazed disinterested, I’d rather not be here, look.

Maybe he has a problem throwing a wet ball? The last pick was just a terrible ball thrown to a guy who was actually lost on the play. I think his preseason finger injury has something to do with not being able to grip the wet ball very well.
That's a problem playing for a South Florida team.

Yall will soon learn majority of college qbs are mediocre lol, some guys highs are higher than others and some guys lows are lower than others but there is only maybe 2% of guys who are truly elite
Problem is the guy we will see on Sarurday night is very elite. He is a true dual threat qb who can practically carry an offense by himself. Very consistent very accurate to all levels of the field. Kind of qb we need.

He is a 4th year, Div 1 QB at a place where rain is a norm... not like he is QBing University of Arizona or Syracuse in the dome.
Did you read and comprehend that it could possibly be related to his finger injury? It’s pure conjecture on my part. But when I see a wrap on the QB throwing hand, that tells me he still has a problem.

We really need to develop Lane and bring in a best available portal QB that money can buy regardless if TVDuck stays or goes. Oline gave him all day to pass and he continues to stare down him primary read while throwing into triple coverage just to get the ball to X.

TVD continues to miss wide open WRs not named X and hes been doing it for 3 years now
It’s not good when Restrepo has 11 catches and everyone else has no more than 4.

It’s just funny to me that game 1 TVD looked very meh and we just dinked and dunked all night. Lots of time and prep before that game.

Next 3 games we’re driving the ball down field, TVD looks great, short weeks to prep, etc.

Get 1 week off and revert back to the short/intermediate BS and TVD looks incompetent. You can tell when there’s time to prepare.. a certain someone likes to get their hands in it. Just my 2 cents.

We’ll go back to slinging it all over the place against UNC and he’ll look great
We can all pray 🙏

TVD is great as certain things -

- throws a great deep ball with touch
- can put the ball in tight windows and in the right spots to let receivers make a play on the ball ie. Can make “NFL throws” - great accuracy
- Is a good pocket passer and excels when he has a clean pocket

But he’s also missing a lot of other key traits a Great QB has -

- Lack of mobility in the pocket or out of it to extend plays and avoid pressure
- he often makes dangerous throws when no one is open or he’s under pressure
- is a tad slow to read the field and move towards his progressions. He’s more of a 2 read quarterback
- instead of taking the check down or throwing it away, often time forces throws into dangerous/bad windows
- and Lastly, he has no fire or emotion on the field. Seems dopey out there. And I know this is just his personality which is laid back and calm but in big games or when things aren’t going well, I prefer my quarterback to show some emotion and get guys going. Players feed on that type of energy especially in a game where there is no natural energy from big plays

Unless he improves on the skills he’s missing I don’t see him being a high NFL draft pick. Prob a round 4-7 type guy

I was also concerned about the total lack of creativity on offense that's supposed to help our QB. TVD had a stinker but the game plan was extremely basic.
I hear that! We abandoned lots of the plays we’ve been running all year. Where was the motion? Pulling OL plays? Even WR/bubble screens except for stupid one on 4th down. Game plan looked like we were playing Bethune Cookman again. No creativity at all and that was the most shocking part to me.

Those are rare, we probably won’t ever get a guy that level lol.

All things considered we should have never lost that game but here we are.
All will be forgotten if they can bounce back. The ACC is always a crap shoot down the stretch but UNC an unbelievable opportunity for this team to push forward to their goal.

The only thing more schizo than Van Dyke's play is our fan base, including many of us on this board who tend to anoint him as sure-fire first rounder one minute and then dismiss him as a NFL wanna-be soon thereafter

TVD is like many MLB pitchers: a stud when he's got his best stuff, but a train wreck when he's struggling. Baseball managers understand this dichotomy and handle situations accordingly, i.e. ride 'em when they're hot, get 'em out when they're not.

Football coaches aren't programmed this way, even more so as the concept of QB1's as the unquestioned leader/most important player evolved into the axiom it is today. To temporarily bench an established QB is seen as a bridge too far for many college coaches.

Not sure, though, what else CMC can do (unless he's convinced EW17 from NoFLo) isn't ready for big screen. Instead of catching his breath and recalibrating when he starts to struggle, TVD often seems to press and end up digging himself — and the team — into a deeper hole

Hello,

TVD stats are in lieu cramming the entire passing offense in favor of X for 3 years straight
Your reading comprehension is upsetting.. I was making a comment about this year's first 4 games.

This had been posted elsewhere as well, but our top 3 WR's had all been eating prior to this game.. George and Young still ended with 7 and 5 catches a piece against GT.

We have a top 10 passing offense. X may be the engine, but the other pieces are eating just fine in this system too.

Fine? Define "fine". He looked like he had been run over by a truck on Saturday .... dead eyes, no emotion, no spark, no LEADERSHIP. The polar opposite of a kid like Dorsey. TVD is a crap shoot every game. He better enjoy his college football days as football doesn't appear to be a long term career possibility.
Fine, as in yes it was one bad game and I agree with all those points. Have you seen that from him in any other game this year though??

TVD has never been the rah rah guy, so I don't understand the notion that now he should be that person.. especially in a game he did not look prepared for. Alot of folks need to step off the ledge, that ledge won't bring a win back from GT.

I'm not on a ledge ... just pointing out that TVD is a player and not a leader. Things start going downhill and he is one of the first to cave. Not an admirable quality in a starting QB.
