What to expect from FIU....

FIU brought in a couple of JUCOS but still have no real depth up front on defense. They rotate 8 or 9 guys but at least 4 of them are garbage, even by conference USA standards. Miami should be able to run the ball on them similar to what they did against Toledo.

Miami's rush defense has been probably the strongest aspect of the team so far. They held LSU to under 4 yards a carry and that's including the one 50 yard run. Almost all of Toledo's total rushing yards came on quarterback scrambles, not designed runs. Miami doesn't need to play as much man against FIU because their receivers are nowhere near as good as Toledo's. They will devote much more effort to containing a scrambling QB this week.

Another week, another overmatched opponent. All that interests me is if we'll get to see one of the back-up quarterbacks get serious minutes.

Golden 2.0 would go 0 - 2 and thank the Lord.

We should whip FIU badly - they're vastly outmanned in talent.

But Butch Davis - being a very skilled and knowledgeable Defense guy - would have our defense doing a much better job in 72 hours than what we've gotten the past three years.

He knows defense when he sees it - and defense wins games.

What to expect? A Football God named Butch Davis will coach FIU. It's a shame that he's not at Miami.

Agree...Mark Richt's unimaginative play-calling will struggle (and Malik will get the blame) against FIU. Big Plays or Bust!

We Are In A Fight!

I don't think Richt's playcalling can excuse Rosier over throwing his receivers.

I pretty much agree on everything here. FIU does have 2 good DT's but behind them there is nothing.

FIU took 2 4 star JUCO's at DT last year. That's some serious beef at the weak point of our OL. Toledo lists their NT at 292 other DT at 280lbs. They looked smaller than that. FIU's starting DT's are 350lbs and 290lbs. Handling a 4 star senior that weighs 70 more pounds could be a challenge.
The staff has to find a way to compensate for that and run up the score. You already have idiot talking heads like Dinich saying that even if UM wins out and beats Clemson we could miss the playoffs.

Our run Def is ranked #29 in the country giving up 2.4 yds per carry. LSU got almost half their yards on 1 play. I don't think it's our weakness.

Our run defense is fine MOST of the game, it is the breakdowns at the most inopportune time that is frustrating...We out defensed Auburn when we played LSU and out stat'ed LSU then on offense...the score was not indicative of how equal the talent was yet we lost big by giving up long stupid plays. WE let Toledo close the gap when JJ went down and JJ will not play Saturday. What I hope is we take the emotion out of the game early and not let FIU stay in there as I expect this is far more important to them then our team. We need a stadium of Canes fans, keeping the energy level high for our team. I hope our fans attend instead of figuring we will blow them out so why bother.

Miami will more than have it's way with a garbage FIU team, as well as Butch Davis—a **** of a recruiter in his day, but a garbage game day head coach.

****outtahere... Mark richt is a horrible Gameday coach. Butch Davis has beaten teams ranked # 1, #2 and so on. Mark richt HAS NEVER ACHIEVED THAT FEAT.

What Mark Richt loss to 5-7 Pittsburgh while ranked #2, which is the worst lost in Miami football history. Oh yeah, do not forget about those 4 game losing streaks. In fact, that's TWO four-game losing streaks in less than 2 years. That is the sign of a poor game-day coach.

2.42 Yards per rush so far this season. 99.3 Yards per game.

So far 22 in the country in rushing defense.....

I guess when you consider we are 33rd in pass defense and allow our opponents to complete half their attempts?

I don’t know, if I’m FIU, I’m throwing Hail Mary every first down
I'm not seeing a lot of enthusiasm with Richt's Game Day Coaching.

Given what he has to work with - compared to say - Butch - I'd say Butch is getting more out of his talent than RIcht is with his talent.

My bad.

That's just too obvious. Easily overlooked.

Richt is saving his enthusiasm for FSU

Well I was wrong about our run defense but unfortunately we did not cover the spread....sigh! So those cursing me when we went into the fourth quarter can thank me now if you took FIU...:)
