What the heck is going on with the our safeties ?

of course and no one is saying he should be or will be. he is what he is, but people want to lump him in there, but he hasn't actually been an issue this year. hes not great by any means, but hes doing his best given his talent level.

They have struggled but Banda has taught them to make a bad *** mezcal sour. Also, can we stop pushing this crazy notion that we are so young? We aren’t a veteran squad by any means but we aren’t that young. They showed a stat on Saturday where VT was younger than us.

Not sure, maybe bandy was supposed to have help over the top vs unc on that first td but he got beat on a double move at the end of the day and was beat later on in that game. Vs va tech he absolutely couldn’t give up what he gave up late in the game but he did. Scheme is different alittle so maybe that’s the issue but who knows. Those other dbs certainly would have helped though, but when your best players are getting beat, not playing with effort or not doing their assignments of course the defense isn’t going to be as good.
 
look at the end, everyone and anyone told you the secondary was going to be an issue with the amount of inexperience we have back there. it was one of our defensive weaknesses going into the year. the LBs and DL were supposed to be a strength, but were finding the Lbs look awful and DL not look so hot when a dominant or even good DT isn't there along with not playing the best rusher we have more (hint it isn't garvin hype be damned).

I do agree that he has blown coverages in those spots and even got called out by the broadcasters in the VT game for the late catch he allowed (even tho the throw was good). if a guy gets beat on a double move he gets beat imo. that's more on the player than the coach in that sole situation. the rest idk. im not an expert when it comes to this stuff and there are way better posters that can help w this. I always say that we don't know what were truly watching (even roman pointed that out when Romberg corrected him on an assignment). even when you listen to him talk on air, **** break stuff dwon from a Line and QB perspective in a way we can dream. its a diff sport to those people than to us
 
I am not giving up on Hall. The more reps he gets the better he will become. The same people dogging him were probably the same folks dogging Redwine his sophomore year and calling him a JAG. What we wouldn't give to have him and JJ back there right about now.

I said it before that we just need to roll with Hall and Bolden and let them earn valuable reps and with the natural ability they have they will get better as season goes. That's what happened with Redwine and JJ. The more they played the better they got. Bolden and Hall won't get better subbing in and out for Knowles and Carter every other drive. Those 2 are a lost cause. They should only see time if Bolden or Hall is injured or if the game is a blowout.

Time to start cleaning up the depth chart and shrinking it. We are at DefCon 1 right now as far as the season.

I’m not going to blame bandy at all last year more then less those deep passes were interceptions from redwine and JJ. I’m leaning towards Bakers play calling... i saw too many times Amari carter at deep saftey and Bubba playing the line of scrimmage, which makes no sense to me

I don't think weve ever been a good tackling team going back to when randy was an HC here. it seems to be always be an issue no matter the coach. this year is pretty bad tho. bakers play calling is an issue overall tho which is why many took away duties

Blake baker ain’t helping the secondary, look at the drop off in pass rush. Any secondary would do worse including the ones we fielded recently with Jaquan/redwine/Mike jackson if the pass rush was like what it is this year.in the past This defense has been predicated on negative plays, dominant pass rush and tfls all while not giving up many big plays and You NEED that for this defense to succeed and right now we aren’t doing anything like that defensively. Complete drop off

its only been 1 game for bolden so well see how they adjust w him back there now this friday. if nothing changes, then we know where we can find a ton of answers

Its definitely all on Baker. Banda has 4 safeties playing in the NFL right now. Not on practice squads either. Maybe Diaz made him look good..who knows. But unfortunately for Banda, if this season doesn't get turned around, everyone has to go. Period. Whether this massacre was your fault or not if we go 6-6/7-5 we have to clean house. Diaz would more than likely keep his job in that scenario even though he shouldn't.

agreed. Im hoping with miller coming on at DT and hoping we play GR more that we see more of what we saw in the past. having willis who followed up Mac and Norton was nice and also helps.

Not blaming bolden at all but i do feel he is more of cover deep saftey then him playing closer to the line of scrimmage, i feel as if Hall should be i. That position as he can be an athletic enforcer when he wants

yeah I got your point and don't disagree. I just hope this dumb staff can make the adjustments back there now that Manny is taking a larger role in the D. for all his faults as an HC, he did adjust as a DC and field pretty good defenses.

youd have to actually look at the snap counts from the game log to see who and how much a guy has played compared to the others. ive seen tons of teams rotate guys in and out, but if its something like everyone is palying an eqaul percetnage of snaps, then i agree. if the snap counts arent large for the **** guys then it doesnt really matter. guys will need breathers
