What the heck is going on with the our safeties ?

Not blaming bolden at all but i do feel he is more of cover deep saftey then him playing closer to the line of scrimmage, i feel as if Hall should be i. That position as he can be an athletic enforcer when he wants
I’m more than fine with bolden. He made a few tackles, missed one but **** the whole defense did as well including our veterans. He had one busted coverage and it should have been pass interference but he did hawk him down showing his speed. He can play. We need bolden at free safety and hall at strong safety because carter is terrible in coverage, space and tackling apparently.

carter was the ultimate CIS hype machine bc of a few hits he made as a freshman. hes just not a safety

We need a more athletic saftey guarding the flats, in years past those would be our biggest plays by our safeties while our linebackers blitzed more, but #5 and #20 in space isn’t really working at the moment. We gotta stick with our more rangy satires

Don’t get me wrong i want the kids to play but this coaching staff is not putting these guys in positions to be successful on defense.

Our backend play is terrible and those busted coverages i know we want to blame Our corners but our safeties are nowhere to be found. The biggest red flag should have been Banda saying he only cares about tackling smh!!

The biggest read flag has been their horrendous tackling and poor angles when trying to tackle.

Banda has a solid point.

theyre young and inexperienced and only one of them is actually good (hall). we knew the secondary was going to be an issue going in but everyone fell for the stars or hype. that's what happens when you lose redwine and JJ who started back there for two years

Yep, I knew this D would take a step back when JJ and Redwine were gone. Especially JJ.
I thought they would be a bigger loss than even Willis and Jackson. This defense asks a lot out of the safeties, they have a lot of responsibility in both run support and pass defense, have a lot of ground to cover. However, if you're good, you can be a star in this system. Unfortunatly Hall is young and the rest of our safeties (excluding Bubba) are not very good.

I’ve seen more busted coverages versus bad racking outside of our linebackers

I don’t think they are playing well at any level of this defense but tackling is a massive problem with this team and the safeties. Virginia Tech had a lot of plays where a team who tackles stops them short of the down marker.

As bad as baker is this defense playing fundamentally sound football (with Bakers bad play calls) and not freelancing or trying to tackle with their heads on the ground beats Virginia Tech.

I think shaq had his best year at Miami as a junior where he had 14.5 tfls 6 sacks but he’s regressed so far this year as has Pinckney. Someone who has played even worse than both of those guys is Jonathan garvin. I literally do not know what he’s doing

Prepping for the draft

Nobody hyped him. Only person who really loved him was LCE. Everyone else was mostly lukewarm and knew he had issues.

Honestly, what other options do we have? Are you going to drive down to CG and fire Diaz yourself? You think endless threads on here will "spark" the change. Dude is at least trying to do something to try and save his job. I'm not delusional and think Baker doesn't need to get gone and most all the staff to be honest but it's just not going to happen this week. So, we'll see what Diaz can do.

its better than what AG did by allowing Dorito to run that abhorrent scheme w no change. mannys sucked so far as an HC but at least hes willing to make changes. the worst trait that his OC has is being stubborn as all **** about his own scheme and play calling.

Safeties did nothing to lose the game Saturday. The LBs were again non-existent and it was clear as day that the staff was completely unprepared for Hooker to be the QB, even though I posted on Sunday that he was going to start and I know absolutely nothing.

He's a one-read and run QB playing his first game, and Miami's defense had absolutely zero gap integrity while rushing the passer and the LBs were vacating the middle of the field like it was contaminated. Poor execution and poor preparation. We also can't cover any tight ends or backs in man to save our lives. The LB play this year has been probably the most disappointing aspect of the entire team, when you factor the expectations.

^^^THIS

Fact remains neither Pinckney and Quarterman are nowhere near the players they should be their fourth year in the system. Really thought both would take a big step forward this year, trying to up their NFL stock—yet both have been huge disappointment and beyond lackluster.
