What Receivers should look like

You think if Pope, Hightower and JT, were on the other teams they would not perform? Don't forget Jordan and Mallory as TE's. These guy would be killing it in another program!
No..because guess what..JT would quit with one game left and the others you named are true freshman lol

Love UTx Receiver's, they catch everything thrown their way. They make the difficult diving catch, jump balls, sideline catches, & the easy ones as well. Cager needs to watch film of these Wr's and he can learn a thing or two from WR's with the same body type as himself.

Texas has a few monsters at receiver, too.

I don’t think we’ve had one receiver get 20 YAC unless they beat someone deep. Yes, a lot of it has to do with the “concepts” we run but our guys just don’t make plays when they catch a short pass. Having said that, you can’t make a play without catching the ball first

And what evidence is there that pope "would be killing it in another program"? He has the body of a 14yr old kid and the tenacity on the field of a sea slug. Maybe he will be good one day, but pope didnt flash a single **** thing all season. He is a way better social media diva complainer thus far than he is a college player.

We had seven drops against Pitt. SEVEN! And honestly, it didn't feel rare or like an anomaly at all that game as we have grown accustomed to multiple drops every single game. So they suddenly catch those balls if they are wearing a different team's colors?

Look, I get your point and anyone who follows the program even remotely knows our staff did an absolutely dreadful job of utilizing our offensive roster to the best of its abilities. But there is a sh-t ton of blame that needs to be on the shoulders of a large handful of players on our offense as well. I can think of more guys on the entire offensive roster who played like dog sh-t this year than I can of those who performed well on game days. In fact, it's not even close.
I agree wth a lot of what you’re saying, but Pope, Hightower, Nijuko and our 2 TEs were heavedly recruited! And by all of those teams mentioned!

These guys go to those programs and drop balls like here on a consistent basis won’t play. It’s incumbent on their positions coach to get them to focus and if they don’t, don’t put them on the field.

Clemson’s last game their receivers dropped multiple balls. Like someone else pointed out that at times these drops can become contagious. But they finally got their act together and performed.

But our receivers can’t be bad only because they get here and the ones we miss happens to perform better at other places especially when everyone is chasing the same guys! That thinking defies all logic!

Yes, these receivers have to take a great deal of responsibility for their actions but the coaches bear some responsibility as well for not forcing them to be more focus on technique, looking the ball into their hands before making a move and route running.

Our OF as a whole need a complete make over from top to bottom!

No. He needs to catch 300 balls a day. Watching film of other guys doin it won’t help him do it.

Pope was under utilized [ virtually not at all for his level of ability ] in high school - kid should have had 10 - 12 touches / game
and would say more of the same at Miami, what he is best suited to do Miami does not do, this is not a good match in terms of skill set of player and
type of offense featured. Would agree with above poster, could see him do much better at an Alabama

Coaches unquestionably deserve a lot of the responsibility. My point was, so do some of our players.

Going back to Randy I have noticed that our players usually get worse the longer they are here. It isn't true of all but of too many to ignore. Is it something in the Coral Gables water or do we once again have a piece of crap coaching staff? Randy and Al were clearly horrible HCs but Mark should be better. We are not seeing better. Three years in a row we have seen mid or late season collapse.

We need to go back to hiring HC who want to use us as stepping stone to NFL HC job. They are more likely to hire assistants with the same desire. Miami is not a big state school with all the massive $$ and population support that comes with that. We simply are not built for "lifter" type college coaches seeking a life time resting place. We need hungry social climbers who know the shortest route to NFL is a NC at flashy university.

We lost our 2 best WR and our QBs are not good. Now we have to rely on WRs who are not the Alpha dogs in the group. Landing Haselewood is a must now.

I watched 'Bama, UGA, Clemson, Oklahoma and their receivers were simply the truth ... there was no grandstanding, just making play after play.

We used to have this level of performance ... with the added hoopla ... what happened to the days of Downtown Eddie Brown, Stanley Shakespeare, Micheal Irvin, Brian Blades, Brett Perriman, The Ruthless Posse, etc...?

My God, how far must we fall before we rise again?
All of those teams have competent play callers and a system to get their playmakers the ball in space. We do not

So infuriating watching Harley and Cager celebrate 5 yard catches like they just had the game winning catch in the Suber Bowl. Dugans needs to fix that soon. As far as the young WR’s complaining. Who wouldn’t when you see **** players playing every week who are dropping pass after pass. **** im infuriated for them. Right is a clown.

Maybe We are over-prioritizing athletic upside over hands and toughness in recruiting receivers?

Groupie what are you going to say when our same WRs are better next year? Talking about there was no grandstanding gtfoh 🤡
