What now / Moving Forward

We have had YEARS to suggest/make-a-motion/force-a-vote on a "Top 25 ranking" limiter language in the tiebreakers.

We should have done this when the CFP expanded to 12 teams. Anyone incapable of realizing that this day COULD HAPPEN is just not paying enough attention.

I have been warning that "overly large conferences" have advantages and disadvantages. The biggest disadvantage is that two teams may end up playing very DISSIMILAR conference schedules, with very few "common opponents" and a wide disparity on strength of (conference) schedule.

That is where we are today.

A Duke team incapable of beating Illinois, Tulane, and UCONN is now our second-best conference team (per the tiebreakers).
Jesus did not know that. We have been really stupid then.

This is such a massive hose job, so much worse than '00. at least that year there were only 2 bids, this time it's 7 at large and the ACC-CG nonsense. We are clearly one of the top 7 at large teams. Thanks for the info and sorry for the rant but this result is freaking ridiculous

We have a 12 win roster and a 7 win gameday head coach. That's why the oddsmakers set the over/under for wins at 9.5.

Mario changed his game day approach after the SMU game. In essence, he closed the barn door after the last cow got out. Now we live with the disappointment of what could have been while simultaneously applauding a very good season.

Well said.

Just asking...WHAT could the ACC have "done" about The Snub.

A. It was literally the last vote of the year, it was an unprecedented situation and there was no time to lobby.
B. The CFP field was increased to 12 teams the next year, which eliminated the possibility that The Snub could ever happen again.
C. If the rules/criteria allow the CFP to evaluate a team that has lost a key player or coach, those are the rules. FSU could LITERALLY have done something different, to wit, having BETTER QB RECRUITING and having a backup QB who is able to step in and perform well enough to convince the CFP that F$U was still an "undefeated" team (in quality).

c. Is not something in their control during the season and their backup qb actually won games.

I know fans say we got a bad draw with nothing falling our way the last 3 weeks, but I think fsu also had a run of luck as bad as ours. Worse in some respects in that they won every regular season game and couldn’t make the playoffs because other teams ahead of them didn’t lose and their conferences were more respected. I have a feeling if the other 4 teams were to have lost their qb, they would not have been dropped if they kept winning (as fsu did). I guess just a coincidence these ***** jobs both happened to ACC teams.

We can’t decline the bowl game but we can cancel our game with ND and we should. I would love to leave the ACC. I think it’s a lot of money though @TheOriginalCane would know the buyout cost. I would rather be independent. Or in th Big 12. This piece of **** conference didn’t stand up for us this past week or so regarding ND and our ranking in the playoff bracket and now they have a 5 loss Duke team in the ACCCG.
I get this sentiment, but that is a massive mistake

If we replaced a Notre Dame with a UCF as an example, a power 4 team, and we did everything else the same, including blowing those two games we would be way further back on the rankings and on all the metrics and with the ACC being ***, we would have an even harder time getting into the playoffs playoff then we just did against the SEC

I get the point but honestly be careful what you wish for. It’s not a good strategy whatsoever.

They should just use the American conference tiebreakers, which essentially does a version of this already and changing it in the off-season since it’s not gonna happen now

This conference ******* sucks but Miami can’t act like we’re not passive contributors to why it sucks including how our athletic department and presidents interact with it

Been saying it for months and years, no matter way, the number one off season move = Leave the ACC

Maybe not, but it could be our best team for at least several seasons (and is certainly the best we’ve had in his tenure). We are going to be losing some really critical pieces.
Mario has recruited well from the portal and HS school level i am not worried about talent at all! Our D line will be vicious next year maybe not as stout against the run but great nonetheless

Our recruiting class is below average, so IDK about that. We lose Bain, Messidor, etc and none of the freshman coming in are that level.
This class is top 10 possible as high as6-7 when jrs done I’m not sure what you’re talking about

And our recruiting class last year was supposed to be below average “bad”, which was in the 13 to 14 range- went on to ******* dominate so chill the **** out

the freshmen arent supposed to replace them.
Lightfoot, Blount, Lowe etc are plus transfers are
everyone said last class was average, it wasn't, this won't be
Mario will load talent

Well said. I’ve been trying to articulate this for several hours and you nailed it. Thank you.

Can we just stop this nonsense?

We can't decline a bowl invitation. It's contractually required by the ACC. All of that bowl money goes towards our revenue share.
This is true. But you can have a sufficient threshold of the roster opt out of the game.

I understand the logic in your post. It is sound. But I would still cancel it and focus on winning our ****** conference to get in. I would further demand that the ACC remove ND from the alliance. There’s no benefit to it. Yeah it’s a slight plus in schedule but it helps them more than the ACC if they’re bumping ACC teams out that they lost to with the same record. Just focus on winning the ACC.

We have a 12 win roster and a 7 win gameday head coach.

Extreme misnomer to say the least,....suggesting that half the success in W/L's is the HC that's not calling plays but has some magical video game controller.

If we have a 12 win roster,....how'd we get that 12 win roster to begin with? Who's responsible for it?

Because FSU and UF are trying to figure it out and would really like to know.

Are some of us advocating the ACC drop the Notre Dame scheduling agreement? If I’m not mistaken, Notre Dame is an ACC team for all sports except football. If I’m not mistaken, Notre Dame was an ACC member for football for the 2020 Covid season. If I’m not mistaken, the ACC bends over and grabs her ankles upon request by Notre Dame.
