I’m just tired of making coach richer, we give them millions then fire them and for the next 2-3 years we have to pay them .

What’s the current list we’re paying out now , guessing here now

Maybe HC

Good Lord we may have tap the endowment stash.

He I’m a HC I’ll bring NC next year just pay me guaranteed as measly $1,000,000.00 one year if I don’t do it fire me

And I have no idea how all of that wasn't blatantly obvious during our glory era. You would have to be an all time nitwit not to recognize how fragile it was, and destined to collapse.

How can anyone in their 30s or younger be whining as a Canes fan? Did you actually inherit the program in the '90s or early 2000s without ever bothering to check the long term history? Those are the fans I have virtually no respect for. The rest of us who saw the before stage had a greater appreciation of the freakish glory years while understanding we were not a blue blood program.
 
the only reason to take a job at miami is that it's in a "power 5" so if youre not in a p5 you can get a job here to say you have p5 experience.

To be honest with you....and it pains me more than any of you know realize to say this but....Miami is not desired by most coaches in America, at least not elite ones. This foolishness with not paying Golden reeks of amateur hour. To me, I do believe it comes down to two things, 1) An administration that cares about football, which we don't have obviously; and 2) a coach who is not only good at coaching xs and os but knows how to recruit and develop players that have chip on their shoulder. IF MIAMI IS SERIOUS...and that's a huge IF, I don't think 5mm is going to be enough for Miami to land what I consider to be an elite coach. At most schools yes but at Miami, due to the negative stigma around the school by coaches, it will require Miami to overpay a coach to get them here. This would show coaches that the administration is finally serious about their program again.

Got to spend the money on the right coaches first.howard,jj and butch have shown the blueprint that works here.the next hc needs to follow it.

Hey! If we paid the coach $10 mil, the coordinators $5 mil and each of the assistants $1 mil we could have a great team. That's the ticket.

The U has all the ingredients to return to the TOP 3 EVERY ***KING YEAR--- EXCEPT for the will/desire to pay big-time money for the football program....

That is LITERALLY all the keeps us from chasing Championships every year like we did in the late 80's and early 90's.

Bull. There's still the unrelenting eye of the NCAA and the ability of enemy programs to buy recruits with impugnity.

And while local talent is a potential asset, it’s not like being Hc at the big state program in LA, AL, OH or GA, just for example. Those schools have a better lock on local kids than we do. Miami competes with two major state schools with recent ncaa championships, as well as the entire SEC, Clemson, Ohio State et al., just for local kids.

This job ain’t easy and it ain’t for everyone.

There's a guy it IS for but every time his name is mentioned the impostors howl like wolves against him getting the job. We can't pay kids like other schools so the equalizer becomes evaluating and developing talent and we know who does that better than anyone. Hit dogs? 👂🏾

All reasons why we need a mercenary HC wanting a ‘better’ job, and should forget finding a lifer.

And we need the same as the new OC.
 
Not really legendary. A 10 year run from the 80s into the 90s and then a 3 year revival at the turn of the century. That's not really a football tradition.

The big city doesn't matter. Most teams in big cities tend to suck. Have you been to Tuscaloosa, Happy Valley, or College Station? I'd say the big city is a negative due to the types of distractions and culture it can support (Nevin Shapiro, Uncle Luke, ect). Sure you can point to USC but that is an exception that proves the rule.

The area is great for recruiting but if that was all that mattered then USF, FAU, FIU, UCF ( yes they've done well) would be racking up the rings.

Can we admit we are delusional as a fan base? Swagger, talking trash, and turnover chains does not win games.
