I prefer Richard Gordon back there.
Even if he did at no point has he looked like the high school version.didn’t pope return punts in high school?
I know there are experts here, so I will ask. Most punting-teams now put the punter and 3 blockers in the backfield. This gives them a legal formation and means that 4 players will not be covering the punt. Sooooo, why do receiving teams only put one back to return the punt? Why not put four guys back, one runner and three blockers? The three could catch very short punts (the kind that Pope fumbled), block defenders more effectively and recover muffs. Why doesn’t everyone do this?
Unfortunately if Pope is this mentally fragile, he has a long road ahead in life.I didn't think they'd **** with Pope's head like this before a big game but X is the guy. Lets go.
Makes you miss 'ol Braxton, don't it? Didn't have Hester returns, but he had very sure hands.Unfortunately if Pope is this mentally fragile, he has a long road ahead in life.
We all want him to excel, but so far...
not to standard.
would have the opposite effectPope will be out there imo. They need him confident and focused at WR.
These message boards sometimes are able to make decisions quicker than the coaches, its the same reason like mentioned on through the smoke podcast that losing to FIU and Duke might have been a good thing because if not we would still have Enos because Diaz wouldnt really have a reason bad enough to change even tho we sucked.. Mediocrity is DEATHManny must be reading CIS.
Preach!Exactly.
If pulling him could shatter his already shaken confidence then he definitely needs pulled. The one job of the punt returner is for the ball to not hit the ground , the rest is gravy. He already has questionable hands so I never got putting him back there in the first place.
Hate to use one play as an example, but did you see how easily he fielded that punt late vs fsu? It was bouncing off the ground and he ran up with complete confidence the entire time. Pope had a brown stain on his pants as he was running up on the one vs fsu
I don’t think that’s the way to have him confident.Pope will be out there imo. They need him confident and focused at WR.
For starters, you're now down 3 more guys if I run a fake.
Plus it’s easier for the return man to find an opening when you jam the punt coverage at the line and push them out of their lanes as they run downfield.I know there are experts here, so I will ask.
