What if there are 27 draft picks on our roster

Zion has the potential to be a All-Pro imo. Like the jets drafted D'brickashaw Ferguson top 10 and Nick Mangold in the 1st round , in the same year.. That was Mangini's teams too. The only thing holding the Jets under Rex Ryan back from making a S/B was they didn't have a elite pass rusher like John Abraham who signed a deal with the Falcons or the Cards I think. And Abraham would have finished as the Jets all time career sack leader had they re-signed him. But Calvin Pace was signed who would have a perfect compliment in the 3/4 Mangini brought from the Patriots.

Ferguson pretty much transformed his body his 1st year at Virginia. Similar to Zion. But the Gators had like 10 sacks week one. Jarren Williams body was prolly injured or bruised up after that 1 game alone.

we have at least 20 players on this team right now that will get drafted or make a nfl roster thru udfa in the next 2 years

You guys missed OPs point entirely.

Which is fine because it was stupid, I just wanted you to know you'd missed.

Yea, the younger fan base cause back in the day we owned the draft.
Too many fans of this program seem to think kids are good because Miami, as opposed to Miami was good, because of the kids we had.

Lewis, Irvin, Sapp, Kennedy, Portis, Gore, Wayne, AJ, Taylor, Rolle, et al., those kids were going to be great wherever they went.

When we overestimate the prospects of current kids, we are making it clear we do not understand what set those prior kids apart.

Right about the coaching...we need to get rid of this staff while this guy is in play....

Need to grab him before the Noles or Arkansas do

There is one guy on our roster who looks like a legit first round prospect, and that is rousseau.

no seniors will be top 3 rounds.

of the juniors, doubt there’s a top 2 round guy there, and probably no top 3 round kid.

of the sophs, there are some guys who *possibly* could be high picks, but no one who looks probable. Jordan is the best of the group, but his size will cause him to slide in the nfl draft, imo. Probably to third round. Lingard has the measurables but it’s silly to project from them at this point. Mallory has the measurables but also, has to prove he’s that guy, and as of yet he hasn’t. Phillips almost dropped fb, silly to project him at this point. Maybe wiggins if he keeps progressing could become a top 2 round kid. Maybe Hall. Nesta and Scaife, let’s see them as upperclassmen before proclaiming them top nfl picks. Pope, nah.

of the frosh, rousseau, yes, looks like a future high pick.

from those groups, if im wagering and the question was over/under on first round picks, i’d take the under on 3.

In actuality, this thread was surreptitiously about Jimmy Johnson and how the trolls and some of our fans have agendas and/or lack of patience and perspective.

Jimmy inherited the nation's #1 team.

The roster he took over had 6 #1's and 27 draft picks.

We went into every game as the higher ranked team (except for two), but finished with 5 losses--- including the embarrassing loss to FSU, in the orange bowl no less, by a score of 3-38. And, BTW, that FSU team only won 7 games on the year.

I doubt this roster is as good as the one Jimmy inherited... but I am proud that they never gave up in any of their losses. Losing 3-38 to FSU in the OB was clearly a team giving up in that game against a heated rival.

There will be a ton of bumps ahead for this coach, and all the coaches that follow (and, in reality, all the great coaches of our past).

Individual game failures only matter if there is a LONGTERM failure to address and fix it.

In a perfect world we have 4 first rounders. As of now we only have one in GR15. IF and it’s a big IF, Brevin gets featured more he could be a late first rounder. Nesta could potentially be a late pick if he continues to develop and Jarren if he continues to develop as well. To even mention anybody but those 4 is criminal.

Right now we don’t have the track record of guys continually developing and getting to that level, nor has this staff proven it either. Of course I hope I’m wrong but I’m being realistic.

Hedleys a top five pick. Does he count as one of the 6? He doesn’t even know the rules and he’s compared to Ray Guy. His secret is putting a reverse direction spiral on the ball. He also has a pouch on his belly...that’s not his jersey. When he does pushups, the planet moves away from him.

I doubt we have 6 first rounders on THIS team. But 1984's team did. Didn't stop them from losing 5 games and being curb-stomped by a 7 win FSU team at home 38-3.

The detractors regarding Johnson, in all fairness, were much more vocal and nasty than they have been for Diaz.

27 draft picks and six first rounders is not a lot but the question must be how many of those are in the two deep this season.
And how many of those are are the final product already, ie Zion Nelson and Jarren Williams.
Both could go in the first in the future if they develop but that cant be used retroactively against the coaching staff.

Reading comprehension folks, please.

To repeat, I said (with emphasis added), "
How would you feel if you later find out that there were....."
Very selective group when reading, and very little comprehension. You do realize that nobody even teaches that anymore, lol

Greg: First Round
Nesta: First Round
Gurvan Hall: 1st
Bubba Bolden: 1st
Brevin Jordan: 1st
Jarren Williams: 1st

There’s your future first round picks
Bolden needs to play a full season uninjured, then I'll bite...
Jordan I agree
Gregg, yes
Hall, Rd 2 or 3
Nesta, same as Bolden. Two more years at least high productivity and I'll bite
Jarren, definitely have to see consistency here.. But if he figures out how to stay consistent than yes I'll bite than one too, UT I'd bet late 2nd Rd honestly
