What Happened To Our Wide Receivers?

What I like about the offense right now, is there isn't a lot of film of our passing game out there with Brad at the helm. Allows Coley to pulls some rabbits on the 15th. I think it's brilliant to run the ball down every teams throats right now, and keep the playbook concealed until FSU. If we can blow teams out only using a small fraction of the playbook, by all means do it.

Believe it or not it was part of the game plan....UNC has put up some impressive numbers with their up tempo offense....We take time of poession and keep them off the field by running instead of passing...Numbers I think, had us with +12 minutes compared to UNC..12 minutes with their offense translates to another 25+ plays...

I'm still steaming over the Dorsett interference with no call. As for Walford they weren't able to cover him.

They're focusing a lot more on the TE's in the passing game, and on getting the ball to the RB's out of the backfield--and it's working. Kaaya completed only 11 passes yesterday, three for TD's. The TE's (mostly Walford) hauled in 8 of these completions and 2 of the TD's. The RB'caught 3 of the passes out of the backfield, one for a TD.

While it would be nice to see the WR's get more involved, the mismatches seem to be there for the TE's and RB's.

If not for the ridiculously obvious pass interference that happened right in the ref's view, Dorsett would have had another 40+ yard catch to add to his gaudy ypc stats.

Our last games we've rushed.....

Do you think that has something to do with it? It's like people don't watch us play, and just post ****, to, well, post ****.

They may not be catching balls, but they are blocking their asses off. Watch them on the run plays. This may be the best blocking WR crop I've seen at the U.

Scouts notice those things too.

Well to be fair, they are passing less but a much greater percentage of passes are going to the TE and RB . I think that is the question being posed by the OP -- is it by design that we are throwing less to the WRs or are they just not open and Kaaya is doing a great job of checking down? I tend to think it's a combination of the two but in any event it seems clear that Coley is doing a better job of getting the ball to Duke.

Berrios was playing and generally running downfield and outs but was covered well by NC. We need to get the WR's more involved...

If we were throwing 40 times a game, more passes would go to WRs. Also, when you're running 40 times a game, you're more than likely going to pass out of "running" formations more often, which means more passes to RBs and TEs.

If we can run the ball and score 30 pts I'll take it. From th very beginning it should have been Duke first and then kayaa second. And That's what coley is doing

I wonder if Nebraska and GT fans were complaining about not throwing to the WRs after they mopped us up with their run games and gave us about 5 possessions.

You should see a mix of everything vs FSU they are coming to stop the run

We will be ready coley seems to really know how to game plan

FSU will be his biggest test. Hope that patched up OLine holds.

That patched up OL is playing better than the healthier OL did.

I wonder also if WR might see Flowers. Depending on the severity of the cartilage injury, guys can be up and moving a couple days after surgery.
