The reason Mario can demand discipline is because Mario is increasing roster talent and depth. And with that he can legitimately say, ’either you do it right or we will replace you.’

Manny’s poor recruiting meant that he couldn’t discipline the starter because the guy behind the starter was a bum and the starter knew that.
