What do you think of Mel Tucker as a HC candidate?

Exactly. The funny thing is also that I have a few friends from Chicago that went to MSU. They're Bears fans and still think he's a corch even as they try to be happy and delusional in the moment as Sparty fans.
I’m also a Bears fan and he was a terrible DC for Chicago. he may be Chicago’s versus of D’norfrio. I know he has done well in college (small sample size), but he was epically bad in Chicago and the scar is still fresh for me.

IMHO Indiana is a much better team than the Miami Hurricanes right now
No argument here on that one, they would roll us. They did what Indiana does though, gave the game away. MSU should have lost that game. I watched it. I can't even imagine how the reaction would be if we looked as bad as they did against Indiana. Kirby Freeman days bad. Everybody on this site would have wanted him fired after that game.

1. Follow The Blue Print

2. The Blue Print is hiring either a successful coordinator from a winning NFL team (Schnelly - OC Dolphins / Butch - DC Cowboys) or an overachieving P5 HC who’s competitive in tough conferences (JJ at OSU in the Big 8, Erickson at WASU in the Pac 10, Richt at UGA in the SEC)

3. I don’t think a current coach in the likes of Mario or Tucker would leave a cush situation where the pressure is not great & have built up their respective programs, to come here as a rebuild in an volatile situation & ?able leadership.

So w/ that being said, our best bet is most likely going to poach either a successful coordinator from the NFL who wants a shot at HC gig, a successful P5 coach who can’t get over the hump at their respective school, or the wild card, a successful G5 coach looking to move to the P5.

We should not be wasting our time w/ pipe dreams, hiring any coaches that’s been fired, losing records, or from failed regimes. We’ve seen how that’s bit us in the ****.

I think it would have to be somebody with either a massive chip on their shoulder, or a crazy ego. Probably why I ended up on the Lane train. I have to believe he thinks Mississippi is beneath him. Qb will be gone, think he would want the challenge. Could be a pipe dream on my part.

Yeah, the more I think about Lane, even though he wasn’t my 1st choice, he fits the bill. I would think we would run the Coastal w/ him.

Dude hasn't even beat a team with a winning record this year so no not yet. His best win is either Miami or Rutgers this year... Jury still out IMO, he's not coming here anyway.
Probably IU is his best win even with the backup QB. All of IU’s losses have been to top 10 teams. Allen would kill it at UM. The defense would be unreal.

Sanity is free you need to buy some.
If it’s free, how do I buy it?

This university is situated in the nations best recruiting grounds, and plays in the worst division of the worst P5 conference. The path to a championship is easier here than anywhere in the country. Whoever takes over this team SHOULD be in a conference championship game next season.

Yea, the fanbase is….. difficult. And the stadium situation is…. Unconventional. But neither of those things matters at all if the product is good.

We’ve had incompetent coaching and bumbling athletic department for 20 years. Give UM a real AD (which is in the works) and better than average coaching, and championships happen.

Mel currently is the HC at the red headed stepson of Michigan football. If you think that’s a better place to be I don’t know what to tell u.

I think he's an above average coach in a perfect situation for him who would be completely swamped here.

Not better place to be but MSU has long focused on athletics. If you think that their is any comparison between the resources they devote vs Miami I don't know what to tell you. Mel and most other competent coaches are not leaving certainty for mystery. Use the last forever as evidence, what head coach left a power 5 school to come coach at Miami?

Great school with lots of money. Izzo and Dantonio brought a lot of national respect to the school.

That’s not a good argument. Miami doesn’t hire from the P5 pool.. which is the real problem. It’s not that the canes coach in 2021 doesn’t have resources, it’s that the canes coach in 2021 doesn't know what to do w resources.

If Blake hired Mel instead of manny, what would he not have here that he’s got at M St?

Since Richt was hired, Miami gives its HC a budget to hire million dollar coordinators and good assistants. There’s an IPF. The facilities aren’t an issue. What would he be missing?

Maybe Michigan State gives him a bigger recruiting budget… but he doesn’t need a huge budget in Miami. Analysts? Well, manny can hire analysts if he chooses. He chooses not to.

Again.. the problem at Miami is no longer that the HC isn’t given resources. The problem is that the AD keeps choosing ****** HCs.

Well the argument isn't what would have happened if we hired Mel. The point was Mel wouldn't leave MSU. So to have a valid point what incentive is there to leave MSU for Miami in 2021.

I gotta add though, that Miami fans are getting a bad rap only cause our program is the ”Soup of the day” made with leftovers, for the last 20 years. Any fan base would become psycho over this kind of mismanagement. Just think of Bama fans on boards after the loss to A&M. After that one loss, they sounded somewhat like us. I just think we are as passionate and thirsty for at least a competitive appearance on Saturdays. I can bet anything we would be feverish on Saturdays with any semblance of a well run program.

No. Your argument was that Miami is a step down from MSU.

But.. some reason to leave east Lansing for UM: Not living in Michigan. A legitimate potential shot at a championship. Not living in Michigan. A hands off admin. Recruiting grounds. Not living in Michigan.
