What do you need to see to believe this team can with a Natty?

I was going back through the games earlier today and was looking at short yardage run plays

Remember the days when we couldn’t get a first down on short yardage? Or score? Those days are gone

Not sure we’ve actually be stopped this year in those situations

So we are wrecking people in the pass game and getting what we need when we need it on the ground

It’s been awesome to watch
Exactly

When we've needed tough yardage we get it.

All I hear is "take what the defense gives you". We are and we still suck?

Ok sure

Make it make sense lol

Just gonna have to accept that every thread is going to be these revelations about our running game for the rest of the year

We’ve got a Heisman QB, elite WR core, a potentially great OL when healthy, and a legit pass rush. If our weakness is a 230lb running back that ran for 1,200 yards last year then I think we will be ok when we need to be

If you’ve got that you can beat anyone

We all know that there’s always at least 1 or 2 conference opponents that just will not go away - ala BC game for 2001 Natty team.

I need to see us win 1 or 2 of those grind and strain type games, maybe on the road where we do not play our best and get the other teams best shot.

Blowing everyone out for a team that’s not used to winning isn’t going to do us any favors when we have to play a Clemson/LVille in the ACCCG, or a Penn State/Ole Miss/Tennessee/Michigan in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs.

Can no one read what I typed? Go back and reread what I typed.

:ROFLMAO: Relax!...All good.

If we (the #7 team) were playing in the playoffs this weekend, we'd be playing #10 Utah and I like our chances.

If you have us as a conference champ right now, we're a #3 seed.
If you go by standings right now, Louisville would be probably a #4 with us at #9.

The CFBPO seedings do not/will not align with the rankings.

If you're looking at this a different way, my bad.

I’m looking at it exactly like I said it lol

We’re the #7 team (currently), Utah is the #10 team. The #7 team will play the #10 team. I wasn’t talking about the future as the CFP rankings aren’t out and there are no championships being played this weekend.

Again let’s revisit this when it actually matters in late November and just take 1 game at a time.

The defense stopping a potent passing attack. Don't think they play one, though dominating Louisville and Clemson I guess would kind of count.

The top 10 is littered with high powered offenses, to win the natty Miami will have to stop a few of them.

We’re already better than all but maybe 4 teams in the country. We have to stay healthy. We need to remain aggressive on offense. We need to keep the same focus and intensity we’ve had every week for the remainder of the season because nobody n our schedule is going to beat us unless we totally **** the bed. Once the playoffs come, we ride the best QB in the country to #6.

Conference play is upon us. We’ve looked great against 4 bottom of the barrel cupcakes (at least USF played us tough for a half).

Wha do you need to see down the stretch of ACC opponents to be confident this team could make a serious run at a Natty in the playoffs?

For me:
- This is a helluva long season. You need depth to succeed, so I need to continue to see more players getting involved at all position groups. Lyle exploding onto the scene last game was a prime example, need more of that.
- Small iterative improvements. Great teams get better over the season. Cam and the OL have been great, but have left meat on the bone. Need to keep shoring up line play and tuning up some of the throws.
- Sweep *most* opponents. Should win every game in the ACC by 2+ touchdowns. The competition simply isn’t great. However even the all time great teams (2001) have down games, so I’ll excuse a single bad showing as long as we pull out the win.
- Clean up penalties. Have no doubt, refs will try to ***** us in the playoffs. We were robbed in 2002 and if we play it close again and give them an excuse, they will do it again. Need to play clean af and lower our rate of penalties as the season progresses.

We do all those things, and obviously stay healthy, I think we will be able to compete with anyone.
Conquering taking the knee.

I don't see an elite RB or WR at UGA this year. They're missing Bowers badly. They don't have that safety blanket at TE to bail them out. Beck isn't targeting Delk very often. I know UGA fans are not happy with Bobo calling the plays, and I think Bobo is missing Bowers more than Beck. I'm not saying they don't have talent on offense, but they're still finding the new go-to guys. The defense should still be fairly stout. This weekend will be a huge game for them.
