Knocking three enemy combatants out of games... at a minimum. Head hunter!
I expect DT play to be nasty with Moten Scott & Blount sheeeeshReally looking forward to him and Chase as our starters with Bonner and the young guys rotating in.
Our entire defense is going to be spectacular. I honestly don’t see a weak link.
We lost a generational DE and two more top NFL draft picks in Bain, Mesi and Scott. Thomas will play on Sundays, too. But as a defensive unit, 2026 should be superior to 2025.
I hope so but have to imagine there will be a bit of a step back. We'll be getting as much pressure with 4.
I agree on Toure. The DL taking a step back in production because of Bain and Mesidor leaving isn't as cut and dry as it may seem however. Why? The following return and barring injury will be better/more experienced.All-ACC type year, possibly AA. I think our DL production takes a step back in 2026 giving Mo some more opportunities.
The other top dlines would be texas/uga/osu/oregon/maybe Oklahoma?I agree on Toure. The DL taking a step back in production because of Bain and Mesidor leaving isn't as cut and dry as it may seem however. Why? The following return and barring injury will be better/more experienced.
DE Damon Wilson
DE Marquis Lightfoot
DE Hayden Lowe
DL Armando Blount
DT Ahmad Moten
DT Justin Scott
DT Jaquez Carter
DL Keona Davis
DE Herbert Scroggins
DE Booker Pickett Jr
I'm wondering aloud who in the nation returns the type of production/experience listed above and the Defensive Line?
I'm not arguing with you. Losing Bain and Mesidor is huge and we will certainly feel the loss. However I was just trying to point out the fact that we won't exactly be an empty cupboard either. Most of the players I listed above as returning, have not even come into their own yet. Players like Lightfoot, Blount, Scott, Scroggins and Pickett, have not reached their college peaks yet and someone as immensely talented as Lowe has not even played a college snap yet. I have yet to even mention returning DT Ahmad Moten or DE portal addition Damon Wilson. Yes we will miss Bain and Mesidor. Those two young men are Miami Hurricane legends. However I believe most programs would look at who we have on the DL for the 2026 season and wish they could trade places with us.The other top dlines would be texas/uga/osu/oregon/maybe Oklahoma?
Our pass rush will take a step back thats cut and dry imo. Still will be a top dline tho but we were ahead of the field by a mile with bain and mesidor
I didn’t think our pass rush takes a step at all. I think it gets better with Lightfoot, Wilson and Lowe plus Pickett the pass rush specialist! I also think our run defense gets worse. The other top dlines would be texas/uga/osu/oregon/maybe Oklahoma?

Bain had 83 pressures this year by himself, thats tied for the most ever in a decade. We don’t have a player close to that, and thats no knock on the other guys i like them alotI didn’t think our pass rush takes a step at all. Wilson is a top 10 pickI hope so but have to imagine there will be a bit of a step back.
I understand, but he also didn’t blow you away with sacks. Especially early on. Pressures matter, but actual sacks take them back. Guy transferring in had more sacks than Bain in 4 less games. Yes, Bain was doubled at times, but our DTs were doubled 5x the amount of times meaning he had 1v1 more than people think. I think where Bain was at his best was VS the run. And it’s going to be nearly impossible to replace him thereBain had 83 pressures this year by himself, thats tied for the most ever in a decade. Depth will never have the same impact as two superstar players
