He's not going the extra mile, & logging long hrs at the football facility on a daily basis because the university is paying him $8 mil/yr, which as of this moment actually makes him underpaid. He's doing all of this because he truly loves "this U".
In life, once an individual reaches a certain amount of success, they eventually come to the realization that true greatness lies more so on intrinsic motivating factors, than extrinsic. Financial incentives only take an individual so far because they're self-limiting, & why does one individual consistently go above & beyond while another does the bare minimum even though they are at similar compensation levels? We sometimes lose sight of this reality, because most people are inundated with responsibilities & distractions, but it is still important, nonetheless.
