We're Air Raid Now...

I still remember all the arguments I had with the Super Tuff Bro's on here that we needed to be more like UGA & Michigan & "pOuNd tHe rOcK bRo!"...

As I've been saying for years, we are at our best when we have a lethal uptempo passing Offense.

Our best chance to win the most games on an annual basis is with being a high-powered Offense.

Running the ball is necessary & it's always good to have that ability, but for MIAMI, we need to be able to put the ball in the air & score at will in order to put us in the most advantageous situations to win consistently.

We will never be Michigan or UGA.

Mike Leach always used to rail against how people misunderstood balanced offense. It's not running 50% and passing 50%, its being able to punish your opponent in either fashion when the opportunity presents itself.

The best power attacks now are masters of space. Our cavemen are on the rocket ship, and we've blasted off.

It's a whole new world.

100%

We weren't QB U with two Heisman Winners with Kelly, Bernie, Vinny, Walsh, Erickson, and Gino because they were so good at handing off.

Multiplicity & versatility is the name of the game.

yeah Mario is all in on getting ward his heisman

Been a long time since we’ve consistently skull ****ed teams…. Feels good man… feels **** good!
As well he should be. Proof of concept when recruiting QBs in HS and the portal. Come play in our system behind our OL with our variety of receivers.

Could we have just force fed the running game and wore them down eventually and won this game 24-0? Yes. But why? Our best player is Cam. Our best position group on offense is our receivers. Doing anything different than what we’ve been doing would be downright stupid. Let Cam sling it around and build a lead then hit them with the running game once they’ve committed to stopping the pass.
I think it’s QB and OL. Receivers are really good but Cam has been given enough time for the long patters to develop downfield. That takes great pass protection. Ward has an incredible amount of times to throw and he’s very accurate with a strong arm. After 4-5 seconds receivers are coming open no matter what.

Shout out to Shannon Dawson. Yes, Cam is phenomenal but Dawson called a great game today. The underneath passing game is what got us going and the execution was top notch. Kevin Beard has his guys playing hard and blocking like animals. You see the effort from receivers even on plays that aren’t designed to go their way. We finally have an OC who understands numbers advantages and calls plays accordingly instead of just forcing what he wants to do over and over.
Might be the best game dawson has called here imo, literally schemed someone open **** near every drop back.

If he can just marry the pass and run game together, best offense in the country

Definitely one of my favorite, soo much Air Raid stuff and it was clicking.. I almost lost it when we scored on one of my favorite concepts, a lincoln special too, shallow sting.. Cant believe it got called back because Bell was an *******..

2 backs stuff was soo good.. I can still remember fighting the good fight of idiots wanting to bro style in a completely different era, guys talking about full back in flats for 3 yard gain while we pile up mediocre teams and losses, absolute insanity.

Have to.....cant run for **** until the 3rd string comes in against their backups.

Only complaint is run game looks like ****. I dont know if its the scheme......blocking......RBs.......something has to change.
Nothing has to change. They were stacking the box with 8 and 9 men in the box. In the 2nd half, they started respecting our pass more, and that allowed us to gash them with the run.

And Michigan stinks right now + UGA barely survived over Kentucky.

Bama was at it's most dominant slinging the football all over the place, not running the ball.

Ball State played the run hard. Had at minimum six in the box with a S crashing the moment Ward turned to the RB.

We had 1v1 coverage almost all the time. Ball State couldn't handle it, so they became more balanced and that's when the floodgates completely opened.

Ball State hasn't allowed a 200+yard run game since September 2nd, 2022.

Add on top of that our O-line is not 100%

And with the clock rule changes and teams playing slower with the helmet radios Bud Elliott has now been mentioning what we have been saying forever which is that if you shorten games and only get 8 drives then it only takes a few mistakes to get upset by an inferior team.

We can grind the game down once we are up 20.

This is the inherent weakness in a run heavy offense. You can throw numbers at it and nullify the ground game even if the blocking is good. You have 5 linemen and a tight end. You can’t block two guys with one so if a defense commits 7,8 or 9 guys to stopping the run, there will always be multiple unblocked defenders. Ball State was going to stop the run even if it meant giving up 500 yards passing. Miami adjusted accordingly and threw it all over the place. There were 7 run plays called in the first half. In the second half, with the Ball State defense completely worn down, we were able to run the ball easily for over 200 yards.

Also, the team losing usually doesn’t empty their bench. It’s not like they were playing their backups in the second half against our second and third team offensive players. They were just beaten down.

Pass to get the lead. Run to keep it.

Thank God Mario got over not running up the score! The view of respecting your opponent and pulling back does not work in todays game.
