Well, well, well....

Lane Train just getting smoked by Muh-Family Brian Kelly in Baton Rouge; an LSU team that lost its opener to Florida State.

Rebels and the infallible Kiffin outscored 28-0 in second half of a 45-20 beat down.....

Another example of how our fans care way more about appearances and vibes than football. Brian Kelly is one of the best coaches in the country and wins a lot of games wherever he goes. Yes, he lost his first game with a new team. Now he turned them around and they're playing well. But hey he did a goofy accent so obviously he can't coach.

Nobody says you have to go undefeated to be a good coach. Lane Kiffin is 7-1 at Ole Miss. Ever since his USC debacle, he's also won a lot of games wherever he's gone.

Good points. I was starting to wonder myself if a "program building" coach like Mario would have been a better hire after a few years under a strong X's & O's coach that can do more with the talent currently on the roster. With the amount of money being put into the program, a strong season this year was crucial for our success in the near future. Now we're "rebuilding" while other programs with new hires at HC are evolving, and it feels like a bad dream.
Don't disagree.. but please elaborate on the bold.

It still the first season. It's hard to adapt with a depleted roster.

These are the types of insane posts that just completely ignore reality. Wario won the Pac-12 fair and square once with Justin Herbert. Cool. Good season. His second pac-12 "title" came after he went 4-3 and another Pac-12 team couldn't play in the championship game because of covid. It's another vibes-based coach evaluation. Some of us (me for instance) actually watched Wario at at Oregon and didn't see anything impressive that would translate to success at a much lesser program. He was getting by because Oregon is a top 10-15 program whose recruiting pool isn't in SEC country.

A "proven coach" can actually make the team better. He's getting paid to coach the team and win games. Wario is failing to cover the spread against teams like MTSU by 34 points. It's a shocking level of incompetence. You don't get two years to just **** around and get blown out at home by atrocious teams. Coaches come in and make bad teams better all the time. Only at Miami is this viewed as some very confusing concept, because our fans act like teenage girls at a Backstreet Boys show in 1999 whenever we hire a new coach.

whispers - LSU was a bigger dumpster fire than we were w everything at the end of the O era (they had kids literally refuse to play for O after the title and sit out). they are not a good team this year but they have MUCH better coaching. BK is the only modern coach to ever win at ND. he took them to a title game and multiple playoffs. that ND program that cannot survive in todays CFB. he took a then unknown Cincy football program to a BCS bowl. hes going to win big at LSU

35-12 at Oregon over four years, two Pac-12 titles, two double-digit win seasons, a Rose Bowl win and some monster recruiting hauls—compared to a fraudulent little Napoleon defensive coordinator (who got whacked on the ground at Penn State the same way he did at Texas years before he even got to Miami).

Sit the next couple of plays out if you're really comparing enthusiasm for a proven coach like Cristobal to the dong-fest in 2019 when Diaz was hired; hyping his stupid chain game, Twitter crypticness, WWE tackling dummies (with '7-6' on the chests) getting into the fracas with the players all while chomping cigars and floating into a booster event on an 80' yacht like he was the second-coming of Tony Montana.

Incredible how the legend replaces reality in such a short time with so many in this fan base. Anyone with a brain didn't overhype Mario and knew what kind of mess he was walking into. It's the clown who screamed "We back!" and "15-0!" as if there's some just-add-water approach to rebuilding this thing.

Let's see where Cristobal has this thing in October 2024, not October 2022—after he inherited a complete abortion of a program.
Proven coach? The PAC-12, or whatever the **** it is called now, has been pretty **** weak. Oregon spent a crap ton on their program, and THAT helped bring in recruits. That Nike money is real. Mario still got his crap pushed in by inferior teams. Stop pretending the man won a national title there. He did not. He out talented some teams, and got outcoached by others.

Listen, there is a list a mile long of coaches that won a conference title, but then failed miserably. Mario will need to improve, or he'll just be another in a long line of one hit wonders.

I was unjustly banned for six months because I said in a few threads that Mario Cristobal hadnt showed anything meaningful on the trail yet and wasn‘t a big time coach. I was accused of trolling, but I wasn't.

The offseason Cristobal suckfest was the most despicable thing I’ve ever seen as a Miami fan. 90% of the fanbase was ready to anoint the guy for the same reasons they crowned Diaz, just in a slightly different way. Cristobal was doing the fake tough guy stuff and the fans and media ate it up. Meanwhile, we had just hired a coach without doing an actual COACHING SEARCH for the second consecutive time. And we hired a guy whose resume did not justify his hiring whatsoever. He had average success at Oregon, a far superior program. But he has no X and O ability or proven ability to take lesser talent and win games. He coached under Saban for years and could never get a gig coordinating there--so he had to become a "co" offensive coordinator under WILLIE TAGGART. Yet Miami fans thought this guy was incredible.

Miami has crappy talent as I have been correctly saying for years, but the problem isn't recruiting. The problem is that Miami repeatedly hires coaches who have no proven ability to take a certain product and then make it better, based upon the delusional belief that Miami has some specific and unique "culture" that others just "don't get." This is why Miami hires clowns like Wario and Diaz. Football is secondary, vibes are the most important thing.

Miami will return to being a somewhat competitive P5 program when they stop thinking they are a unique program that doesn't have to hire good X and O coaches. This has been the Miami MO for years. Since Miami already missed the boat on Kiffin (an actual coach), my hope is that they hire a boring graybeard coach with zero connections to the program who can actually get the players do basic things correctly and win 8 or 9 games a year, and then build from there. Cristobal isn't going to win anything here--his "recruiting ability" is meaningless because he can't compete on the field and he was always overrated as a recruiter too.

nah...

It's about talent and recruiting. Let's talk after he's been able to recruit at least one full cycle.

The ones who make the highlighted kind of arguments always reveal their inner dumbass. The reaction to that accent clip was widespread and ridiculous. Totally dismissing his coaching history, people were immediately declaring he was in over his head and would crash and burn at LSU because he was a terrible "fit." We've listened to these same types for years tell us why various good coaches shouldn't be at Miami because they don't "fit."

The Miami link

Butch- former Dc
Coker- OC
Shannon-DC
Golden- No link- loser from Temple w/ a binder
Richt- former Qb, just fired.
Manny- DC
Mario- former player

6 out of the last 7 coaches were only chosen because they had a link to the program. It worked once, 20+ years ago.

It’s time drop the cronyism and just pick the best guy. But this is Miami after all, where you it’s all about who you know.
I 100% agree with this point.

The issue I always bring up is - who else can we realistically get?

Sometimes we have to get guys with ties to Miami because they're the only ones who actually want the job.
