Well, tough season (injuries), at least our youngin's getting some burn.

There's a whole half of a season left to play, and then a big lead-up to a bowl. Plenty of football left for us to consume and maybe even enjoy. There are signs that the staff is finally realizing the roster's limitations as well as its potential. Let the stud QB spread it around and keep defenses honest with some runs sprinkled in. But we are DONE as a run-first operation if the last 2 weeks are any indication.

The first half of the season was awful mostly because of how boring we were to watch. We still aren't very exciting but the shift away from 4.4 yards and a cloud of dust will lead to more points and the defense has kept us in it the past couple weeks. There's reason enough to be interested the rest of October but 1 more loss before Clemson and the wheels will fall off.

This, I’m rejuvenated from the changes and excited for football. I think we go on a little run, shoot me.

There have been 3 Saturdays so far that have sucked absolute balls.

I wasn't over the moon the days we played Southern Miss or last week either, although the first half was fun. Shutting them out in their packed stadium at the half on Homecoming will always make me smile.

But that being said, if we're 5-3 going into FSU, and I walk out of Hard Rock that night with a win, the season is gonna feel a **** of a lot better than it did at this time last week. Not a complete 180, but pretty close. Lot of ball left. Keep taking to coaching, keep learning, keep getting better, keep getting on the same page. First year staffs struggle all the time. It takes a while to coach bad habits out of kids. It takes a while to build a culture. The first half of the season was rough. Go win, say, 5 of the next 6 and hit me up after Thanksgiving and we'll see how we feel. Long way to go, good or bad.

TVD is back to doing TVD things
Impossible.

I was told he forgot how to throw a Football & needed to benched for Jake “Rodgers Brady Mahomes” Garcia...

It’s almost like if you tailor the Offense to a QB’s strengths instead of trying to force him to play in a system that doesn’t work & doesn’t suit his skill set that they somehow play better...

Weird.

Go 5-1 to end the season, with the only loss being a respectable one to clemson, and I am not upset.
As bad and embarrassing as the mtsu loss is, if we do this we would-

Have beaten our rival
Improved our record
Played two talented teams that have out recruited us close
Probably finish with a top 10 class
Have a better record than FSU and UF
Gotten our garlic crops planted before the weather changes
Nailed my pre season prediction for record

Need to improve everything every week
If we beat 1/2 *** U and Clemson, what a story that will be. Hoping we get a lot healthier from here on and have no serious injuries the rest of the way. Hope we are crootin well and have an excellent December haul.

It wasn't a great start for this staff but it is refreshing that they have switched to a style of play they don't like rather than stubbornly force their system. We've had too many coaches that refused to make those shifts. We know Mario and Gattis don't want to be an pass heavy offense but here we are.

And the way CY88 was handled is criminal by gattis. And any excuse as to way he wasn't playing sooner is a lie.

Do we really want to single out just CY88?
How about asking WM85 to inline-block for the fourth year knowing the film shows he can't block? Play him in the slot and ask him to run upfield!
BS12, Skinner, Brinson (MIA), Brantley (MIA), Horton (MIA), DM86 (our best TE blocker), Cooper goes MIA for 3 games then gets serious PT vs VT...

A lot of mismanagement, but I guess as a new staff coming in you think you can win with the older guys. You hope you can coach them up and they'll give you the best chance to win.

But does that really ever happen?

Let the jags go, play the young guys.

I'm not sure we can simply say it was mismanagement, JAGs, or the staff thinking they can win with the older guys...

Mismanagement on O- CY88 came in late. Did he digest the playbook well enough to play fast be it pass, run, or RPO plays? D-Money confirmed he wasn't playing fast. TE would be the one group I'd say was mismanaged as they keep asking WM85 to block when DM86 is our best blocker. 18 would be the other WTF as I think he is a good athlete to get on the field. Maybe we talk about Cooper not playing yet looks like a potential starter. Maybe RB but health has been an issue no matter what we talk about.
JAGs- Are they really JAGs or being asked to do something they aren't good at? WM85 blocking, DI8(heck most of our CBs) being on an island, Flagg/Steed in space...? Sure some are likely G5 talents and are then asked to play P5 ball in a way they aren't good at which compounds the issues. I mean, TVD went from NFL to JAG to potential NFL from last year to first 4 games to last 2 games. Coaches can do better! Players can play within the system (see safeties)!

I'd love to see Nelson, TS2, TVD come back in 2023 with the elite class coming in and more time to develop the '22 group of kids (transfers and HS).

I keep hearing people saying that CY88 didn't know the playbook, while that may be true, I'm not buying it as a reason to keep him off the field. With his hands and who else is in that room, you get him on the field for as many snaps as possible, regardless. Just have somebody tell him what to do on each play, block this guy or run this pattern. As a side note, not to crown him yet, but if he plays, do we beat atm? And then is it a diferent season?

Agreed the injuries have played a big role this year, more than most people want to acknowledge it seems. I know most people hate to use injuries as an excuse, but with where this team is at depth wise, it's hurt.

If asking players to do things they're not good at isn't mismanagement, then it's poor coaching to put the players in positions/systems where they can't succeed.

I am a TVD fan and hope he returns. He should put up big numbers the rest of the year, so i think he's gone. Plus the thought of playing in a ground control offense or for his 3rd OC is not in his best interest.
