Well this is interesting.....TIFWIW.

Somebody on this board said brown would play before Thad and likely play as a Fr
Right you are, Cribster

My theory is that Lashlee wasn't happy with the performance of the RBs on inside zone/zone read and Duo plays, and Brown has a good skillset for those schemes. Ideally Chaney progresses with those run schemes after excelling on gap/power plays and becomes the lead back, or Cam has a huge Sr year with improved footwork and explosion like Najee Harris showed, but if neither of those things happen Brown should be ready to compete. Knighton is talented but profiles as more of a space/satellite back, and Thad has the type of skillset (dancing big back) that usually takes time/seasoning to make a strong impact.

Guys are talking about Brown vs '22 backs but that's discounting the possibility he competes and provides depth right away.
@HighSeas great insight as usual.

Brown > Franklin and I'm not sure it's close tbh
@Mackmiller974 out front like a champ and here are the votes on that post so we’ll see how it turns out:

^ doubt I've liked many of his posts but a good take is a good take. Can't really blame the herd for reacting that way when he provided no analysis though lol.

This is true. Pads determine everything for a running back but I'm hoping Cody pushes Thad.
So true , there’s something about putting on the TARDS ( pads) that brings out the beasts it like putting on your armor for battle.

Running around in shorts and maybe a helmet never thrilled me , but when we went to pads I always looked for the baddest senior counting spots in line to man up against to lay claim and listen to the WOW THIS FRESHMAN DUDE JUST UNLOADED.

GOCANES

It might be social media, but it seems we hear a lot more knucklehead stories than we used to. It's hard when you see the potential.

Youth is wasted on the young.

My only issue and it's a minor one is he runs very upright. But he's big, has good enough speed, seems to have good vision, and doesn't go down easily.

The issue at this point is work ethic. Thad needs to realize this isn't high school and Cody is living up to his reputation as a grinder.
He’s also behind at least three guys. Maybe the plan is to take it slow with him. He’s been on campus for what, two months? Let’s revisit this in fall camp, give him a chance.

That was my initial thought, but like F that, RB's get hurt. Last year Don, Rooster, and Cam were all nicked up at one point. I get looking at the depth chart, IF things go according to plan, best case scenario he likely plays in only 4 games and can RS. BUT if injuries happen, he needs to be ready. I agree everyone is jumping the gun based off one weight # and a few comments but I dont see why just because he has guys in front of him he needs to take it slow. Wake up, work out, prep as if you are starting and when your chance comes you can shine.

Technically he would of been behind one guy, He had an opportunity to be put in a role where he would get real game carries early in season, coaches and situations put a opportunity on his plate. Chaney was/is recovering from surgery and we need big back to pound rock, he would get carries early on.. Not a good look when you are known as lazy..

Heard this also, and struggling is putting it lightly.. Heard he was being a knucklehead and some guys mixed it up because of it.. Wont say much more but rb depth chart is influx and there is a reason they are tryna expedite Chaney.. Thad had major opportunity but he not bout that life
Sounds like X was being an alpha....

Thad at 240 is a little eye-popping, but let's not forget he's a true freshman. I'm not sure when summer workouts started but the heat + workouts should have him shedding some weight. Presumably, if he can settle at some weight around 222-228, that might be a good playing weight for him.

Like, I know Cribby referenced Gil being a little out of shape earlier in the year but I was actually in the sauna with Gil, Steed, Ivey and Scaithe (cue the jokes) w/in the last 3 weeks and Gil seemed to be in good shape. I have no doubt when the kids aren't training with the team, no training table, etc., they end up a little out of shape. Hope that's the case for Thad.
