Welcome to The U, Terry McCray!!!!

Hurlie Brown's guy. Hope it works out.

Hurlie has kicked the recruiting up a level. Losing that Central coach to USF might hurt some but Al knew what he was doing promoting Hurlie. Looks like he is the diamond in the rough. I am liking it. Coley will get HC shot somewhere in a couple years. Hurlie, Barrow, and Art will need to carry the water local then.

people owuldn't be so skeptical about this if we weren't burned so many times prior by this. golden took some questionables in 2012, and we're starting to inch toward that again in 14!!! guys, I trust golden, but why can't we recruit like the fsu and uf's of the world?? enough with the projects, lets get some grown *** men!!

It's not always about rankings, how many stars or offers a player has. Some of the most successful players in college/NFL were "projects". With that being said, we have a solid set of LBs and I think it's a good pickup. It'll be interesting to see what he does this season.

Pretty sure FSU just got a commit who only had one other offer from Fordham.

thank you for your response. look at the stats. rankings do matter!! there is a strong correlation between stars and how well players do. there's been research done on it. while I hope golden knows what he's doing, we shouldn't be making a habit of this. we should be taking less projects and more stars! what I'm attributing this to is that golden needs a bigger class so guys like this are filler.

but they don't make a habit of it. you can't name any other of their low offer guys in this class. when they do offer these no offer guys, they turn out like devonta freeman and cam erving!! both are future top 3 round picks. erving will be 1st rounder :( clearly they've earned the slack to take these "projects". we haven't! that's why I'm so worried.

but I'll stop starting stuff. I just wnat what's best for my canes!!!

****. repped this porst accidentally.

How can you say we are not doing amazing in recruting?!?

OG, really man? Grown men?! We DON'T GAF aboUt trying to recrUit like those schools Up there in NOFLA. News for U. ALL KIDS AT THIS STAGE ARE PROJECTS (5* or 0*)! This kid hasn't played a down in his Sr. season and he's ALREADY 6'2"+ 215-220lbs. AND 100+ tackles (High school Jr, I mUst remind U). How mUch more of a grown *** man do yoU want, dUde? I prefer AG's approach. This staff does it's own evalUation of prospects before giving offers. Will there be mistakes made? SUre there will, but for the most part, it will probably eqUal sUccess in the long rUn becaUse it bUilds depth and encoUrages competition. Competition bUilds Canes! Stop listening to these message board "porster" geniUses and leave the recrUiting to the professionals, that are getting paid a **** of a lot more than we are, to do their job.

WTF are you talking about? Stephen Gabbard and Malique Jackson.....They seem to have one low offer guy do well in Erving (you are wrong on Freeman) and all of a sudden they get a pass and we don't? Get out of here. Stupid post.

I don't like this pickup as much as the next Canes fan, must everyone needs to relax. We are still in play for Smothers & people forget we have two monsters committed to us at LB in Young + Owens. Mike Smith will play a hybrid role & if he can get his weight up he will contribute. Mccary can play the role as smith, 113 tackles & 13 sacks. I didnt like his film but ill reserve judgement as he has obviously produced.

A young man has just decided to make a multi-year commitment to attend the University of Miami and play football for the Canes. I'd like to think that is more worthy of discussion than the lack of knowledge of some who may post in this thread.

Eye on the ball peoplez!!
