Looks like the all-powerful overlord NCAA is being attacked on multiple angles. Still in the early stages but dominoes are being tipped.

1. Transfer Portal: The days of the athletes being beholden to their school are gone. If a guy decides he does not like the coach, the fans or the depth chart he can bolt to greener passages.

2. NIL: The athlete can get paid directly. Complete and utter game changer. Of course, highly touted blue chip prospects and players will go to the highest bidder (or at least perceived best opportunities to get paid).

3. CFB Bowls/Playoff: NCAA resisted this forever. Once it was initiated at four teams it was obviously going to expand.

4. Conferences: The days of regional good old boys networks are being uprooted. Clearly schools are looking for the best financial deal and apparently willing to go anywhere to get it.

The new overlord is the ever expanding TV Deal. The days of the sport pretending to be amatuer athletics with student athletes LOL are over. In some ways, CFB has always been a minor league for the NFL but it is now being structured and operated in a similar fashion. The King is dead long live ESPN/ABC, etc.

The "good old boys" are actually becoming stronger with the possible(and likely) addition of OU and Texas. If Miami had an AD that had a clue instead of that bufoonish Blake James, they could really benefit from all the changes.

Yeah well, they're still crying all the way to the bank, even if it's a few shekels lighter than it was before.

This super conference stuff was talked about several years ago.The B1G,ACC ,Pac-12 and what’s left of the Big 12 will have to respond to this first move by the SEC or ALL of them will get left in the dust.
This next ESPN TV deal with the SEC will be worth billions and if the other conferences don’t come up with a way to compete team wise-size wise with them it will be over for CFB as we know it cause the SEC will have so much more money to buy recruits all the other conferences will become the minor leagues.
Gotta hope the other commissioners are on the phones dreaming up comparable scenarios now.

I remember someone posting on here that his contract is about to expire, is there any truth to that?

I mean it's great for the kids but my only gripe is will Miami ever be the same. Those odds aren't good no matter how people slice it. No matter what they say or bring up it's possible we will never be those 2000 canes or even where bama is at right now atop the mantle. Still root for my beloved Canes all the way but I been come to gripes with this. Still think we have a very good season this year.

Yea cfb is changing but it seems like status quo with the SEC....they cannot be affected by the times changing they always adapt man.

Significantly so.

Miami is very much outside looking in right now.
We need to do something....even if we joined the SEC we would be a bottom feeder there with a rich tradition. Anyone in the know of all these moves and cfb changing have any good news? Don't know much about conference realignment and **** like that. It also seems like the NIL is good but the SEC super power or powers are quiet af. Still breaking bread over there big time.
