There may have been posts along these lines already, but I really think FSU's days as a dominant force are over for the time being. I think Taggart comes in and gets off to a hot start in 2018 with guys who were recruited and coached by Fisher & Co, lots of excitement and momentum etc, and then it slowly starts to drop off. His coaching staff isn't elite and I don't think Taggart is elite.

He's going to be like Shannon/Golden was for us - solid recruiter capable of landing the good 3*, a bunch of 4* and the occasional 5* DE or something, but like Shannon/Golden, their development will be far below their potential as players.

He'll be out in 4-5 years and FSU will go for the next hot G5 coach, rinse and repeat.

We're about to turn that 7 year losing streak around on them. FSU goes 9-4 this season, 8-5 the next, on down from there.

I may be wrong, but I really don't think I am.

THEY will lose a ton of talent particularly on the defensive side of the ball which will make them soft
I also did not see Auden Tate going pro, that caught me by surprise big time.
So now their "firepower" on offense cosists of Blackman behind a crappy O line and Cam Akers with not much else.

Francois isn’t coming back?

They were already fading under Jimbo like we were under Dennis after his recruiting took over. Jimbo's recruiting seemed great but after Rapist left Cook was the whole offense despite all those star recruits. Defense became a couple big time players but not strong across the board like earlier. I doubt wee little willie will be able to turn it around and certainly not fast. They rose doing our down time and even UFs decline -- easy pickings on signing day. Now we are back in the game and thier of the pie has been sliced much smaller. That is why I think Jimbo ran. There is only enough talent in FL for one and one half dominant teams, or maybe just one. Back in the day, it could support two with another in transition but with the increased poaching from out of state, those days are over. Now, there can be only one.

if you don't thing Taggart will recruit FL well you're crazy

Taggart's going to get his. But thinking he'll be a better recruiter than Jimbo's laughable. Jimbo at least managed to put a competent and somewhat decent staff around him. Taggart's staff sans Haggins (DL coach) is mediocre and unproven.

Even Radio and Pyrite got South Florida studs and yet we still went through 10 years of ****.

The biggest issue I see for them is exactly what plagued us: lack of administrative commitment. Jimbo was already having issues getting the administration to shell out for assistants. Although people hated working for Jimbo they still saw it as a career stepping stone and would come spend a few years. Taggert won't have that advantage and I have never gotten the sense there is a strong enough FSU alumni base that will pony up the big bucks in the same way LSU, Texas, and Bama will.

Without good support and infrastructure FSU will fall behind. It happened to us for a decade as the rest of the college football world passed us by and it is now happening at FSU and UF. That is why I am so thankful for Richt. He is a true program CEO that will leave the program in great shape regardless of winning the big one (which I believe we will do).

said awhile back every year 150 D-1 recruits come out of SE three counties in Fl.My
opinion,if a team got there pick of top 25 recruits from these three counties, top five
program every year.

Taggert has to show results quickly. I've said this in another post about the Noles....Taggert is not walking into a rebuild or team that has zero talent unlike his previous stops. He has a QB, RB and 4 and 5 star guys on both sides of the ball.

If he doesn't show results quickly then I see him gone within 3 years.

Based on what evidence? He's never recruited at an elite level before. Why would anyone choose to play for him over Richt, Smart, Saban, or Dabo? Of course he'll do ok. FSU has plenty of kids who grew up fans and dreaming of playing for them, but it's not crazy to expect that he will struggle to win a majority of recruiting battles and that the program will continue to languish under his watch.

Good points, and I agree with everything you have stated save for one point: Taggert will not get 4-5 years. No way in **** will he last that long.

There are a &hit ton of FSU faithful who honestly feel that FSU should be a Top 5 team annually. Pure delusion, but that is their perceived reality largely thanks to our years of ineptitude.

They will give Urkel 3 years max, and if he &hits the bed over the next 2 years then he will be gone sooner.

It's going to take a few 8-5 years for FSU to come back down to Earth with their expectations. Urkel unfortunately will bear the brunt of that realization transition.

3 years max.

Wrong.

They have the financial backing and facilities that are good enough. That won’t be his excuse for his downfall.

Willy is unrustworthy and that is his major downfall. In recruiting coaches and in recruiting players.

He won’t recruit on a level to keep up with Rick and that will be his downfall - sure he’ll get some players, but he’ll be a couple of steps behind even if he manages to recover from this season’s recruiting disaster.

Secondly, his staff looks to be barely adequate. What that will get you is barely adequate player development and barely adequate results. He can’t get the staff he wants not because of lack of administrative support, but because people don’t trust him.

What OP proposes is an ideal scenario, 5 to 6 years of 8-5 type seasons where he doesn’t get fired, and just keeps chugging along while we clean up in recruiting. I like this scenario.

Not saying they don't have financial backing that is good enough, what I am saying is that Taggert won't be able to tap into it because unlike the deep pocket schools, FSU will only spend money for results. Taggert won't have the sway to fully utilize the resources and will be stuck with a barely adequate staff just like Golden and Shannon.

Covered up rape and Title IX violations to win.

Clearly no commitment in Tallahassee

Based on what evidence? .

Based on the #6 class at Oregon before He left.

I mean who the **** has ever recruited at an elite level at WKU & USF anyway?

Let's stop acting like the Sabans & Meyers of the world were bringing in top 5 classes at MSU, Bowling Green, & Utah...ballas ain't checkin' for dudes at off brand schools.
