Official Weekly Polls and Rankings Thread

Help me understand UGA losing at home to a bad Auburn team is less punished than ND losing away at a top ten team on a highly controversial call.

You cannot overcome bias in this sport.
Arizona, the only one loss p4 team not ranked, has an eleven point loss to BYU yet gets no traction.

Houston gets rewarded by moving up two spots after beating a ranked Oklahoma State team w/ a (most likely) future first round quarterback meanwhile, LSU wins against a Mississippi State team missing their best players and goes up four.

The brand bias + preseason poll inertia is incredible every week. Why is Oklahoma State, with two losses, unranked in favor of Oregon on anybody’s ballots?

ND doesn’t have a big win on the resume (no top 25) and Georgia does.

This is also why I’m of the belief if ND fails to beat Miami at home, they’re eliminated.
Miami is ND’s play in game, “leave no doubt.”

Oh please let Miami eliminate ND in a few weeks at South Bend.
The new playoffs rule automatically guarantees them a spot if they’re in the top twelve. If SMU upsets wake, that ND-SMU game could get ND in

This isn’t true……AP rankings drive the resume narrative that sets up the CFP rankings.
Get your line of thinking. However, the whole line of thinking is slanted toward the SEC and Big 10 anyway. Largely due to money. Ask yourself why the cfp rankings are televised on ESPN and why the narratives pushed are all pro SEC on that network. What I'm trying to say is the slant will exist anyway because money talks otherwise a team like Wake would be getting way more credit especially coming off of a really good season with an excellent coach

Well yeah…..it’s about control of the sport moving forward in a 2 super conference structure. The polls allow for an “objective” data point to drive the narrative in that direction and it deserves to constantly be called out.

Polls are only for rage bait at this point. Cfp rankings are the only ones that matter anyway 🤷
Every show, podcast, video and every talking head that talks about college football will have to say the words, Miami is #1, whether they want to talk about Miami or not.

Every kid 12-16 in the country thinking about college football will see, Miami is #1.

It shapes the narrative, puts eyes on all their games, makes all the games seem bigger and more important whether they really are or not.

I’ll take 1 or 2 at this point but it most definitely matters.

We're talking from two different perspectives but in your context it definitely does especially when it comes to things like recruiting. I was moreso speaking on playoff seeding. Most importantly I if we can get healthy we're winning it all nobody is telling me different. Us winning with a host of 2nd and 3rd stringers is being vastly undersold

Can we now dispel all the old narratives of the media hates us please.
Miami rightfully ranked #1 with the weekly ranking system in place.
Last year rightfully got in CFP over ND with the head to head win.

Nauseating seeing comments last night of do you really think the media is gonna vote Miami #1 as opposed to having both BYU & OSU leap frog U.

Win and everything takes care of itself.

Poll inertia / narrative confusion in full effect: three 2-loss SEC teams (#19 Texas, #20 UF, #22 Mizzou) are ranked higher than a two-loss SEC team that they beat: Mississippi State beat mizzou and is unranked.
Last time Miami #1, I was almost 21, young & handsome. Hehe I think I started something here, need to dig up a TBT pic.

Go Canes 🌀
