CLEMSON —
Clemson football's offensive
injuries come at a challenging time with three starters out vs. Syracuse.
The Tigers (5-3, 3-2 ACC) will be without center Harris Sewell, left guard
Elyjah Thurmon and running back
Gideon Davidson against Syracuse (4-4, 2-4) on Nov. 7 (noon, ESPN2). Gavin Blanchard and freshman Grant Wise are expected to start at left guard and center, respectively, according to
Clemson's Week 10 depth chart.
Sewell has arguably been Clemson's best offensive lineman this season. He is Pro Football Focus's highest-graded offensive lineman at 71.9 and also has an 82.4 pass-blocking grade. Sewell needs tightrope surgery on his ankle, per Tigers coach
Dabo Swinney, and is expected to miss multiple games. Swinney said on Nov. 3 that he's confident Sewell will return against South Carolina on Nov. 28.
Thurmon is in concussion protocol after being discharged from a Tallahassee hospital on Nov. 1. He
took a hit to the head against Florida State on Oct. 31 and was carted off the field.
