Week 1 Depth Chart

I think most posters are just reacting for the sake of reacting. Nothing on that depth chart looks completely crazy. If BJ Jennings had been the starter over Flagg this whole site would have had to shutdown for a day. So lets stop complaining about Flagg. Hes the MLB. Hes all we got so we gotta ride with him. Brooks is hurt and we got nobody else.

Bama runs 3 wide as seen on their depth chart so TS, Couch and Ivey will all see starters minutes. ACarter looks like Bernard Pollard 2.0 out there physique wise. I dont mind seeing what that physicality can do against Bama. We need some guys who wont stop hitting Brian Robinson Jr for 4 quarters. Put AC on that list of guys who wont.

Everything else looks great to me. What are we complaining about? This is the lineup we wanted to see against Bama. Esp in the trenches. Grown men on the 2 deep across the OL and DL. No RS-Fr or Tr-Fr. This is for the grown folks only. No skinny jeans, T-Shirts, hats, or sneakers allowed on Sept 4th at 3:30! Cant ask for better than that!!
Agreed, with the guys we have this is the best case scenario. Outside of recruiting better not much else could help. Obvious weak spots but I dont know who we have that is better at any position.

Carter can look like an nfl player but we have years of film of him just getting penalties and ejected dam near ever other game.. and then last game unc shang tsung him basically.. dude must be the best practice player because in games for years and nothing to show

He's playing a different position, and one that's set up much better for his skill set. Much like McCloud, judge him on his performance at the position he's actually playing now, not the one he used to play.

I’ll say this , this depth chart is just motivational. Nothing more. GF, TS and DJ are arguably the three best players on the defense. Let’s see the first drive and actual snaps. GF and Ac will split snaps but GF is the better player. All three cb’s will rotate but let’s see who’s standing outside guarding the best wr most of the day. DJ is the best de and by a decent margin.

I’m today’s football you better have 3 cb’s on the field.

Been saying this for a while now. Running the ball is almost -EV with how the rules are. Teams are throwing more and more and more. I expect Miami to have AT LEAST 5 DBs (counting the Striker as a DB) on probably 90% of the snaps this year. And many more snaps in a 4-1-6 than a 4-3-4. Way more.

There will be a ton of plays this year where we have 4 down linemen, Keontra, and 6 DBs on the field. The top 3 corners, 2 safeties, and a striker.

I saw his soul leave his body at hard rock.. I guess salute to him for coming back and trying to redeem himself but all last year was just ejections and him getting punked unc game.. **** is crazy
Nobody in Canes history ever got trucked harder than Brandon Merriweather vs West Virginia. He ended up become one of our all time big hitters and was a feared man in the NFL.

Might be time to come down off the hill man. Lol thats a former 1st round Safety in comparison.

I get what you're saying because most teams use 11 personnel as their base offense these days so there's no reason to really play 3 linebackers all that much. Teams still run more than they pass in college football though. Only 40 teams threw more than they ran last year. Of those 40, only Mississippi State, Purdue, Louisiana Monroe and USC threw the ball 60% or more of their plays. So even the teams that throw it a lot still run the ball almost half their plays. If we played a majority of the game with Couch in the slot vs a striker, Alabama would just run it at him over and over.

I've said for years that a big thumper at safety who plays as fast but sloppy like Carter needs to play much closer to the line so it lessens how much he had to think and play aggressively to stop passing plays
Hope he scares the **** out of Bryce young
