will he be right?

we held L-Ville to only 336 yards

WE UP!

And they were playing without their Ace receiver and real good RB. Also had a new QB to break in.

Pretty sure leading up to the game none of that mattered. It was Petrino vs Doritos. So the mismatch would make up for the lack of weapons on Louisville. When it turned out to be that Coley was the witless one we start to make excuses for Louisville.

I remember last year when we pretty much stifled UF's run game and caused 5 turnovers and the talk was that our defense was gonna be ok, til we found out what UF really was on offense.....

Petrino is the man, but they had a first time starter and two of their best playmakers out, plus lets see how good this UL team really is after they play a full season. Its obvious the talent is there to be competitive, our DL for once didnt look like it played on skates, which was encouraging but as mentioned many times already, there was a ton to be scared and frustrated about.

We were scared to attack a first time starter that isnt exactly an all world prospect. Rushing 3 in most cases is stupid even when its 3rd and long, but rushing three 300lbers is retarded. Look at the results we had when we rushed 4 or 5 against the kid, we had pressure that led to two turnovers. Second we arent playing Tom Brady here, how are we not allowing our elite athletes in the secondary press the issue and play man coverage while we unleash pressure every time we were in obvious passing situations? The secondary is the one place on defense that we have some experience and elite physical talent. Let the kids try and make some plays.

Here is the reality of the matter with our defense. As the talent improves it will get better, but it just will never be elite. One because we refuse to play to our own personnel's strengths and two because the staff just cant seem to hone in on taking advantage of what is given to them. This whole we will not let the offense dictate what we do can have it's advantages, but if you are boxing against an opponent who cant defend the body you dont avoid sending shots there because it isnt part of your philosophy....

It's not out of the realm of possibility. But the way this **** is playing out, I'm truly more concerned about the offense than I ever was the defense. That's saying alot

if this was a top ten D it wouldn't matter with the offense we trotted out there monday.

Miami is in systemic failure mode; there will be a game, I'm calling Neb, wherenthenoffense will play well and then the defense will give up 500, this is not a cohesive team; its is patchwork, and the special teams consistently hasn1 bad play a game

I don't blame able. He just wants Miami to win so badly that he deluded himself into thinking things would be different. Otherwise you're admitting there's no hope. And that sucks.

We might have a top 30 defense statistically if the rest of the ACC offenses suck, and we don't get mauled by Nebraska and FSU. Surely we'll be top 30 in one of the stats... opponents' 2nd down completion percentage or some crap. Our defensive identity is passive. You will never have a top flight defense that lets other teams do what they want and then tries to react to it.

These guys are trying to have a defensive identity of a team like Iowa, but apparently don't teach or stress the fundamentals at every position, don't develop players, don't play press coverage on the outside, don't let the safeties get to the LOS, and don't have the tackling. Besides which, we don't have to take 2* and make them 4*s. We can get all kinds of beastly talent from Dade and Broward, but can't do anything with it.

Even with all that, oiur offense will be lucky to get out of the bottom 30 if we don't get our crap together.

Our fans have a memory of a gold fish. Just wait till teams start spreading us out and tear us apart little by little. Look out for Arkansas State, they won't be intimidated by us and will give us fits.

WE TRENDING UP!

FIFY. I know you're joking, but I'd rather give up 500 yards and only 20 points/game like we did in Golden's first year than 336 yards and give up 31 points to a middle-of-the-pack team nationally like Louisville should be.
