Miami rolled into Blacksburg week three and were 1-1 after losing 31-8 to UCLA in Butch's opener. The week after losing in Blacksburg, Florida State rolled Miami, 41-17 in Tallahassee.

Not sure how "vaunted" the Canes were that season, Brent—en route to 9-3 from that point—facing only one ranked team down the stretch (No. 22 Syracuse) and slapping around a bunch of Big East slugs.

Funny how that was one of the biggest moments in Hokies history, but a down year at Miami that most of us has forgotten.

Yeah, ok. I remember that game. Miami gift wrapped it to them. Ryan Collins was also lost for the season in that game and Clement came in and saw his first meaningful action and was, understandably bad. They play later in the season and Miami routs them. Regardless, 13-7 is not "whipping tail."
