We Just Got Beat By a Better Team

“….Charlotte and the surrounding areas (mainly west of there) produces a good amount of arm talent.…I can’t answer how they find all these elite RB’s and WR’s. But man are they good at it.”
Must be a hidden benefit of the much maligned inbreeding we hear about in those mountains…

Charlotte and the surrounding areas (mainly west of there) produces a good amount of arm talent. Williams came from Shelby, Howell was Indian Trail and Maye was Charlotte.

Maye was a layup. Yes he committed to Bama, but was not gonna go sit behind Young. His brothers were at UNC, and his dad is golfing buddies with Roy Williams. He was delivered on silver platter to Mack.

I can’t answer how they find all these elite RB’s and WR’s. But man are they good at it.
The qb changes all

Look we lost. UNC is just better than we are right now. If we played them 10 times they would win 9. They have an elite QB, an elite WR. We could not stop that combo because our guys are not on that level.

We absolutely sucked last year. We have improved this year and i think we continue to get better as the season ages. Like it or not we are moving in the right direction. Lay of TVD. We would be so ****ed if we did not have him it would not even be funny.
Agree completely

I don't like UNC and am increasingly not liking them as the years wear on. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they made it to the playoffs. If Maye and Walker are healthy at the end of the season, they literally could will themselves to beat any team out there.

Could we have beaten them this year? Yes, if we didn't constantly make stupid mistakes like lack of ball security, etc. But, they are better and their two best players make the sky the limit for that squad.

UNC’s out-coached us. Kudos to them. They were ready for us. Our lack of adjustments is frustrating and we are still repeating stupid mistakes. I understand players are hurt and were exhausted but you have throw things at them they are not expecting and adjust when they change their game plan.

That being said, Miami was still only loss by 10 with 4 ******* turnovers and a fumble 1 inch away from endzone.

It was a blowout. It was a 21 point game in the 4th. If the game was anywhere near “in doubt” those last two TD’s wouldn’t have happened. They could’ve kept the clamps on our offense if they wanted to.

Sure but I can rebuttal if we don’t turn the ball over, it’s not a blow out.

No you can’t. Garbage time is not the same as regular game time. What happens when both teams are trying is what’s real. What happens when the game is over, and one team stops trying, is not real.

Whats real, is the 38-17 beat down in 46 minutes.

you can also say if the refs didnt call a school record of penalties on UNC, it may be worse since those extended our drives as well. we are excusing mediocrity bc dudes on this board have a Mario fetish. hes flat out not a great coach. hes average at best. his literal miami coaching record is that - average. .500. he is who he is. his way to win is through recruiting.

It’s crazy. People hated on past coaches (they deserved the hate) who didn’t have 1/10 of the resources Mario has, and up to the point did better than he has.

They were missing a very good receiver also. Let’s be honest for a second. Since we beat these guys in 2018, they have owned us. And for a variety of reasons. But the biggest? Quarterback play and their skill guys are so far and away better than ours and better than our back 7 defenders. Think about their skill guys and how they’ve crushed us over the years. And they had Sam Howell and drake maye. An nfl starter and a probably top 3 pick. And we’ve had bad coaching. Plus we are their Super Bowl for some reason.
Where is this nonsense I keep reading that we consider playing Miami our "Super Bowl. " Certainly that is the case if the game meant something as that's a natural reaction for anyone but we don't look at a typical game with Miami as our superbowl. Our forums barely talk about Miami except acknowledging it's usually a difficult game. This is twice I've read this statement. We see Miami like a typical conference foe. No more or no less except for conference positioning.

What has improved from last year? One game against A&M? They’ll likely be a 7 win team maybe 6. You replace the MTSU loss with a loss to GT and nothing is different except the passing game is better. But instead of a backup not being able to complete a forward pass, we have TVD throwing for 250+ and multiple picks every game.
The OL is better but otherwise, yeah the past two games have re-set things in my mind and not for the better.

There’s a group on here that doesn’t truly get what we’ve become. We’ve lost to UNC the last 5 times we’ve played. At this point we’re like a playoff game for Middle Tennessee and the Super Bowl for FIU. 😂
