Sure, let’s return to the days of Alabama, UGA, et al, stomping us out in recruiting talent because they pay under the table and we’re not allowed.

The reason we’ve been in the hunt the last couple of years is because the changes in college football have allowed us to be competitive in acquiring and retaining talent.

No thanks to the last 20+ years of bull****.

No one said return to it. Just saying nil, transfers, mid season announcements get lame after awhile. Constant roster turnover makes it different than back in the day where you knew kids through recruiting and watching them come through the program. Now I have to pull up the roster to even see who ppl are some times.

It’s just different. I want the players to make money and the playing field more level but there are parts of what made college football great that are slipping away year by year. Both things can be true

More than likely, the announcement is going to be that he's returning to Oregon ST, because it's assumed that he's going to hit the Portal at the end of the season.

And that's not a bad thing at all. It's better for him to get out in front of it rather than let it linger all offseason.

Oregon ST took a chance on him when no one else would, so this could be him staying loyal to them. Which is what most of you guys claim you want from modern players.
But if his coach and qb both leave, then what? Seems premature to do this now and makes him look worse if he ends up leaving bc his coach and qb does as well

I understand what you’re saying but with the changes that benefitted us, it was inevitable that the environment would become the way it is. It’s the range of human behavior and market response that one would expect if looking at it realistically.

I do not miss the last 20 years. I can tell you that.

I agree with this feeling wholeheartedly. No beef with the ways things are now and happy we are relevant again. But it just doesn't feel the same. It is essentially pro football but with recognizable and historic college brands to make it feel like something different. Blah.

I am ok being #1, but having to double check the roster to confirm a player's # and I will proactively take a new elite QB for 2027 while wishing a less talented player well in their future endeavors.

As far as this Oregon State player... drop a bag and get him too.

It was already pro football in the SEC before all this, but the paid employment was covert.

True but he could just post on his social. Or in any weekly interview he does. Why the spectacle?

Mid season announcements hosted by cbs sports. College football is so far off the rails.

Glad kids can make money they deserve it but this is so far from the sport I grew up watching and loving.

I still watch every game and attend some each year as well but it doesn’t feel the same. Maybe I’m just getting old. I’d be curious if ppl under 25 feel the same way or if this digital fast pace world they grew up in make its not a big deal with the mess college football has become.

Sorry, these kids don’t deserve this kind of money. They deserve something, but the coaches, AD’s and all the others dont deserve the money they get paid. It’s all gotten out of hand.

Any of you guys ever been to/through Corvallis?

I drove through it about a year ago. The price for me to go there/live there would be so astronomically high that it would never happen. It's literally in the middle of nowhere. You're surrounded by men and women with beards as well as Sasquatches. It's not a good place. Meng.
Not only is it in the middle of nowhere it felt like I had to escape death defying twists and turns. On top of that it’s by far the worst drivers per capita in the country. Not sure if it’s a fent thing but wtf is going on there?
