We have a bye and 3 easy games before ND….

Pitt is going to be easier now with the injury.
Honestly, I don't think Mason is really that good. The raw numbers look impressive, but he put up most of them against Miami (Ohio) and Bucknell, then didn't do much against the P4 competition he faced. He had 453 yards and 7 TDs against Miami (Ohio) and 403 yards and 6 TDs against Bucknell, but only 448 yards, 54% completions, 1 TDs and 1 INT combined against UCF, Syracuse and VT. At some point, the quality of competition has to matter.

Geriner, coming off the bench, didn't look that bad against Virginia Tech, especially considering the weather and the circumstances. He completed 8 of 12, threw a TD and didn't turn the ball over. That doesn't mean he's definitely the answer, but I think it's fair to give him credit for what he did. Now we'll find out a lot more against UNC. That's the first meaningful test of whether he can move the ball and sustain the offense for a full game. If he plays well against UNC, then Pitt may be in better shape at QB than people think.

I do not believe that anything posted here affects the players. Aside from that, I agree with you. Regardless of the walk of life, never look down on an adversary or assume it's going to be easy. Respect your opps, always.
Its Naive to think outside noise doesnt have the potential to affect a players/teams mentality.

A lot of media podcasts people read this board, even players family members, go to other forms of social media. That mentality can spread like wildfire, and young 20 year old men are not immune to hearing things and their subconscious mind being affected.

Its the literal rant that Nick Saban went on about rat poison. People can begin to believe something if they hear it enough.

I would like to think Mario has these players all disciplined enough to ignore that noise at all times. But either way, nothing good comes from this mentality of thinking youre better than a team and it'll be a walk in the park.
