Lol throwing the kitchen sink at UCLA hoping they get big because of Rosen. They also did have a few guys drafted this year. Can't wait to see the numbers big teams like Alabama, Ohio st, LSU want when they are re-upping with Nike hahaha

They renewed last year for about 10 million less.

They are the winningest ncaa div1 program. 113 D1 championships across all sports....11 basketball titles. Its not about josh rosen lmao.

And so begins Under Armour's first series of mistakes following unbelievable success/luck with Curry, Spieth, Newton, etc.

And the OP should consider himself reported. I come from a long line of gypsies and resent the slur. I'd expect more from a fellow former resident of the Stanford Residential College.

Their basketball program is a far cry from the glory years and I don't think the football team has ever had any sustained success. They've been second fiddle to USC on the football field for decades.

It is interesting to see a company like UA go all in on a program. Although, one has to wonder how this could possibly work out. Even the best west coast teams don't get near the exposure of the top teams east of the Mississippi. Half the country is asleep when they play their biggest games. I don't blame UCLA for taking the money. I just don't see how the deal could pay off though.

Looks like UA decided to plant a West Coast flag.

And this is definitely about more than just football.

OSU already re-upped, so did UT. OSU was the largest deal, initially, until this deal between UA and UCLA.
I think Bama will be making about $22-$25/yr when they re-up their deal.

Not sure y UCLA got so much jack. If anything ND should've got that kind of $, not the Bruins.

I agree with you. Pretty crazy

UCLA has Championsip teams across other sports, history and name recognition........and they are hoping they come back in basketball and continue to ascend in football with Mora and Rosen. Plus, it's the LA market.....seems UA wanted west coast exposure.

UCLA hasn't done jack since 1998. Lived in LA practically my whole life when I moved from the Chi. That was the most excitement around UCLA. They talk about us living off the past, well dang near all of their b ball titles came in an era when dunking was deemed illegal, outside of that 95 title. Football hasn't won anything since the 50's. UA may want to get into the LA market, but they hitched on to the wrong team to do so. Ain't nobody rocking UCLA gear...it's all about SC.

I don't disagree, I'm just saying that's the only logical explanation for what they did. It's overpaying to the extreme

This is more than football. UCLA has a strong global brand (they have UCLA stores in Australia, Europe, and all over Asia) and is consistently the most applied to school in the country; Under Armour and Adidas have to pay large premiums to beat out Nike for schools.

Agree with this. I think we're missing the point - not abot UCLA. It's about a west coast presence.

If you didn't live in Hecht, you're basically a Seminole

Yep, 86K or so applicants, but UC Irvine had 66K, UCSD/UC Berkley both had 73K and for those lovers of Gaucho gear, UCSB had 66K...Man, just think of all those retro Ken O'Brien jerseys UA could have sold if they got UC Davis' apparel contract (60K applicants).

The UC schools only require one application for 11 schools in the most populous state, so the numbers are astronomical for a reason:

Tad Footeball is right, Under Armour will be consulting with Mark Grace pretty soon...
