We gonna win the ACC and not be ranked in the Top 25

If we finish the season 9-4, we will be ranked.

NC State, Pitt, and Wake would all be considered quality wins. And we wouldn’t have a “bad” loss on our resume.

This, Pitt only has one loss in ACC, and if they only lose to UVA, and UVA wins out, we're still out.

What we want is for UNC to beat Pitt, Pitt to beat UVA and of course we have to win out.

That would put us and Pitt with 2 losses and everyone else with at least 3. Giving us the tie breaker.

IF this happens and we get a shot at the ACC title, you can consider this season salvaged by all means, especially when our other two losses were against potential CFP teams.

PS: None of this IMO, makes it ok to keep all of the pieces in place at our Athletic Department or our Football Staff. Our team is being run like bad high school team, where upperclassmen get way to much credibility and PT over more talented underclassmen. It's been on full display for the last 5 games where we average 41 pts per game vs 18 for the first 3 games. You simply cannot continue to throw seasons down the drain by overlooking the obvious.

We all know the defense is getting hammered, but those young guys are playing with a lot of heart albeit poor coaching on the defensive side of the ball. i just hope we can keep rolling on offense and pray the reps are forcing the young guys to get better and execute. There were several plays where I just could not understand our defensive sets in certain situations against Pickett, but that dude is legit and he made several plays on his. With that being said, if our younger guys would not have missed assignments in the defensive backfield occasionally, or over-pursued on a pass rush here and there, there could have been a few points taken off the board for Pitt.
I think simply winning out and looking like a team on the rise is salvaging the season. For once we need momentum going into the offseason, not the offseason hype giving us momentum. If we win out and TVD continues to tear it up, it will work miracles for the recruiting class. ACC champs or not, winning out would cure a lot of ills.

I know, I know, I'll get bombarded with "But Manny will find a way to lose." Maybe, or maybe Manny has a QB that has what it takes to find a way to win, even with Manny as HC/DC.

That is understandable, but in is still inexcusable for our coaches and admin to let seasons slip away, when you clearly have the talent on the team to win.

I still do not think we would have beaten Alabama, but I think every other game was definitely winnable.

I get the excitement. But we just played 4 games where the fate of the game was decided by a play on the last series. Odds are overwhelming that that's not sustainable.

So unless this team builds on these last 2 wins and starts dominating the mediocre opponents left on our schedule, we're going to lose again. And even if we do go 8-4 because out competition is so bad in November, we'll end up with a false sense of progress only to get stomped in the bowl game.

The QB situation was a tricky one. It reminds me of 99 when Kenny Kelly just couldn't get the job done, but showed just enough ability to keep fans from calling for his head. People who attended practices told stories about how this skinny kid Dorsey was tearing it up, but fans thought he'd be broken in half. He'd never survive, much less have the O thrive under him. Then he comes in and the team explodes for the biggest point totals we have ever seen over a three game span, and fans still doubted him. "Look at who he played!", they all said. Was Butch Davis an idiot for not starting him sooner?

I have the same thoughts about TVD as I did Dorsey back then. Yes, it would have been nice to see him out there sooner. However, I can understand why coaches go with experienced players first. Especially when King had so much experience.

As for other positions, like WR and RB, there is no excuse for not playing the younger guys. Same with LT and JW on D. First day starters, both of them. The coaches botched that. Manny, in particular.

I'm definitely with you on the QB situation, what King and Lashlee did for us last season was spectacular.

The remaining schedule is pretty much a joke.
That is why we suck. We always dismiss all the other teams because they suck…. Then we lose the game. Been happening for 15 years. We are the joke for the other team until prove we are not.

We aren't even sniffing top 25 right now, who would move us up...GT, FSU, DUKE, VT? Only thing that could move us up to top 25 would be beating Wake, if we get that far. Agreed, Pitt may not lose again and all is for naught.

Wins in general will move us up.

In the ole days pollsters hated ranking us , we went against the status quo .
They really hated us when we best Michigan, PSU and others , we weren’t supposed to we were an upstart team sent for slaughter on the road before hundreds of thousands anti Canes .

We BEAT them both on there turf🙌

I never cared about rankings, I just care about ruining the higher echelons seasons , this is most satisfying.

I hope we stay at #47 or lower.

See this is who we always were HATED by the press but they LOVED for ratings.

Old saying “ all else fails put Miami on”

WE RUIN SEASONS 🙌🙌🙌🙌
