This, Pitt only has one loss in ACC, and if they only lose to UVA, and UVA wins out, we're still out.
What we want is for UNC to beat Pitt, Pitt to beat UVA and of course we have to win out.
That would put us and Pitt with 2 losses and everyone else with at least 3. Giving us the tie breaker.
IF this happens and we get a shot at the ACC title, you can consider this season salvaged by all means, especially when our other two losses were against potential CFP teams.
PS: None of this IMO, makes it ok to keep all of the pieces in place at our Athletic Department or our Football Staff. Our team is being run like bad high school team, where upperclassmen get way to much credibility and PT over more talented underclassmen. It's been on full display for the last 5 games where we average 41 pts per game vs 18 for the first 3 games. You simply cannot continue to throw seasons down the drain by overlooking the obvious.
We all know the defense is getting hammered, but those young guys are playing with a lot of heart albeit poor coaching on the defensive side of the ball. i just hope we can keep rolling on offense and pray the reps are forcing the young guys to get better and execute. There were several plays where I just could not understand our defensive sets in certain situations against Pickett, but that dude is legit and he made several plays on his. With that being said, if our younger guys would not have missed assignments in the defensive backfield occasionally, or over-pursued on a pass rush here and there, there could have been a few points taken off the board for Pitt.
