We gave up 587 yards

We don't have enough game changers on the DL and the LBs have played terrible the past two years. We don't have enough DEs like we did when Diaz first came or LBs like Shaq. Terrible recruiting evaluations and roster management at the LB and DE spots the last few years.
 
This is not getting better. Look at recruiting. The portal will be a free for all now that every team from top to bottom are hitting it hard for the top talent. Just like you have to sell the program to recruits you have to with transfers. If Diaz is at the helm next year expect more of the same if not worse from his defense

He does. You cry. Even though we won. Picked him twice.

Again posters yelling at clouds. No one here has changed their minds about Manny being fired… we can’t give up close to 600 passing yards but not a single person here is fooled.

We need to continue to recruit on that side of the ball but the problem is it's tough doing so in the current environment which we sit. The cloud over Manny, our record and certain position coaches are derailing our effort.

We’ve haven’t had NFL linebackers for two seasons now, though Manny has been here for six years to build depth. There was no cloud for the first five years of Manny’s tenure, and he still failed to recruit the DE, LB, and CB positions adequately. The defensive roster and any shortcomings are squarely on him. Stop making excuses for the failures of a guy making $3.5m and for the love of god don’t call it a ******* “cloud”.

We had the Donofrio frog stance 500 club. Now Diaz has that distinction.

I'll give Couch the benefit of the doubt and say He's going through a sophomore slump, but He was slow coming outta HS.

IDK why some on here were hypin' Him up like He was Deion or some $h!t.

His HS highlights reminded me of Michael Jackson's, excellent zone corners, although Jackson ended up being pretty solid in man here.

Not making excuses, just stating our current situation.
Manny is absolutely to blame for the lack of quality depth, missed evaluations and players regressing. These issues are squarely on his shoulders.
Not sure what you call it genius, but when the national media is calling our program out and recruits are being told to stay away because the coach and staff will be gone, I call that a "cloud".

You must not have been around during the Golden era.
 
Defense at multiple positions lacks NFL caliber players. Like others have pointed out CB, LB and DE are average to below average ACC caliber players. I think we need to get creative at linebacker and figure out a way to get our best/most athletic players on the field together. Some of these dudes athletically just can't get it done.

Tackling was better but our corners and safeties can’t cover other than Stevenson. Linebackers are awful though. We need guys. Smith is fast but small. Other than that every other linebacker sucks.
