We can't pay the right head coach w/experince....

Miami New coaching staff and Salary

HC = Bob Stitt =$1.1 Million (from Montana)
OC = Ken Dorsey = $500,000
Wr = Kevin Beard = $175,000
RB = Ice Harris = $175,00
TE = Scott = $250,000
OL = Art Kehoe = $400,000

DC = Dave Aranda = $750K (Wisconsin)
DL = Kevin Patrick = $250K
LB = Scott McCurley = $375K (GreenBay)
DB = Hurley Brown = $225K

Total Assistant Salaries is roughly $3 million plus the $1.5 Million for the head coach which brings the total coaching staff salaries to $4.5Million. This would infuse new Miami staff with alot of X's and O's ability along with NFL coaching experience that would allow Miami to be a championship with 2 years if not the 1st year.

Good try. At least you have thought this thing through to the end. But I am sure that if you bring Bob Stitt in then he is going to want to bring in HIS guys. Any coach who comes in is going to demand their own guys. There seems to be only one untouchable.
What kind of raise does Swasey get?

Bob Stitt only brought 1 coach with him when he moved from Colorado school of the Mines to the U of Montana. He keep most of the coaches in place. Not to mention Stitt has NOOOOOOO south eastern ties let alone florida ties so he would need to retain the current Miami staffers that can bring that connection. Also remember Stitt has not sent any players to the NFL only his plays and philosophies so he needs the coaches. Also he would more than likely keep Miami's football operations in place because that part of the program is run well.

Here is a link to a story about how Bob Stitt filled his coaching staff at Montana with people who had ties to the program.

There's your answer.

If we don't get a BIG TIME guy, like we did when we hired Schnelly, then nothing will change.

Bama, USC, Michigan----they were dormant for ages, bouncing from one crap coach to another. Until the bit the bullet and hired elite dudes. That's what it takes when your program is down the drain.

Hey ****gots Name the 3 Finalists when we fired Shannon and tell me where they went? Nobody phuckin wanted them but us... they all went to ****** schools

No one knows who was interested in the job or who we offered it to. All those lists were pure speculation started by dopes like Fernan.

Not true is was written by BArry Jackson in the herald who has connects with BOT members

LOL at Barry Jackson. He's a gayer version of Gary Fernam.

Approach Kelly like Bama did Saban and like Michigan did Harbaugh. Kelly knows at this point the NFL isn't for him. Arkansas grabbed Petrino from the Falcons like Bama took Saban from Miami. It's been done before, and it could be done again.

Kelly at UM is about as perfect a fit as you can get.

butch easy

miami never won with xs and os they won with beat this best player right here and if u cant prayers sent.

I actually think he would jump back to college if a solid offer was made. It's a perfect marriage we just need someone from the school that can get it done.

So we gotta take a risk on a coordinator or a head coach with little experience..A young guy...We must roll the dice and hope we hit........ The problem is A'D's wanna protect their jobs and go with the safe hire..Conservative AD's consertavive Coach, conservativhttps://www.canesinsight.com/thread/cant-pay-head-coach-experince/90637e team

Did you read my brain or what. Not sure why people have this pipe dream that we are going to spend money or some great coach is coming here. This administration has made it clear that they don't give crap about football. I honestly think they would rather do away with football altogether. The Miami image doesn't gel with what they got going. Its so very obvious that big time football can make a school lots of money and you know they know that. So what gives? i will tell you... they don't care. They have enough money to do what they want. Football aint in the plans.

We have plenty of money.............now shut up with that BS!

Why dont you ask yourself why they don't spend money on this program when they know Miami is still one of the most identifiable brands in the game. They know that a lot of money can be made off football and that they have the best regional advantage to make it all work.

The new contract they gave Al was a PR stunt because he told the media they lied to him.

People only look at the NCAA scandal as something that hurt the coaches and players but the truth is it turned this administration even more away from football. They dont want Miami to have negative pub in the paper tarnishing their image.

They obviously dont want to invest in this program even though its obvious it would pay off. Its a completely sound investment.

We think Golden was an accident. He is the CEO who says all the things right and looks good in front of the camera and interviewed well. They didn't give a crap about his football prowess.

They are to busy figuring out what they are going to do with all the med school donations.

BUTCH DAVIS couldnt get into that interview room with a shotgun

fixed it for you

Give Butch a small salary to offset Goldie's buyout and when the buyout comes off the books, give Butch the raise that he will most definitely deserve. Who says no?

This administration who would rather do away with football alltogether than hire anyone who had ever had a major ncaa issue going on underneath his watch.

Spreading lies about our finances should be grounds for banning .

Miami has gobs of money.

I am not sure you understand how their finances work. There are no football expenses coming out of the medical school's fund. The football program loses money.

Butch would take the job for < $1MM/year. Safe hire as he is proven not only at the Collegiete ranks, but with this exact program. Looking at his coaching tree and you will see a bunch of his guys have been or are currently Head Coaches in the NFL which means he can spot young emerging coaching talent, which is equally important to identify on-field talent.

Anyone else, and you are basically in a crap-shoot with results.

Do not want Butch but he is better than Golden but if you remember he was a horrible X's and O's coach..he is more of an good judge of talent...Gimme and X's and O's guy

This...

Anyone who thinks butch was a great X and Os guys is simply reading this board and never truley watched him coach when they could understand the dynamics of the game. His vanilla O and D was painful to watch. I think butch could win here because the hype might hold on to recruits and he might hire great coordinators. But he will not be a serious candidate. Also If he was that great what happened at UNC? Why isnt he currently a HC somewhere? Good coaches dont sit in waiting that long when they obviously looking for a gig.

UM doesn't have the stones or vision to do this sort of thing.
Programs like Alabama and even Arkansas skip the chit-chat, flirting and hand-job phases of courting
coaches and go right straight to the fornication.
They skip the goofy Chuck Neinas organizations and make an $$$$ offer $$$$$ directly to the coach
that they want.
They do it hard and fast and with alot of money.
When has the UM folks made this kind of move?

FSU is at $9MM all in staff. UM would need to be in the $7MM range to be competitive. Today, we are not, and a minimal increase in staff pay will not do the job.

Question is, is UM committed to winning? I don't think they are anymore...

Have to disagree with you somewhat vern. They're paying Al Golden roughly $2.5 million per year and another roughly $1.5 million for assistants. Assuming adjustment for inflation, I would anticipate that they would likely offer the next head coach somewhere in the $3 million per year range and another $1.75 - $2 million to assistant coaches. That feels like an acceptable enough number to me to entice someone like Tom Herman or Fuente or someone else to come here and be able to bring in a capable staff. As others have said, we don't have a money problem, we have a stupid problem.
