I am honestly a little surprised that no quality players from Oregon wanted to follow Cristobal to Miami. Youd think that with Mario's "super recruiter" super powers that he'd have some talented kids sitting on the bench that would be eager for a guaranteed starting role at UM.

I'll be guardedly optimistic and argue:

1) It's a really big move, and depending on the athlete's hometown it might preclude their family from going to games
2) NIL money to stay

Haven't had a commit in weeks.Our play on the field is not and will not impress or convince any of the studs that were waiting to see our product on the field.Our only hope right now is NIL,are our money guys willing to over spend or are they going to let Mario sign a class in the 12-15 range which is similar to what our last couple coaches landed here.

This cannot be the question, or we are in trouble in the NIL game. Businesses aren't going to benefit from paying relative unknown 18-23 year olds in a city with pro athletes and celebrities. The question is will there be others who aren't bothered by throwing money away for a successful college football team.

I agree on the NIL part being critical but while the class ranking may end up in the 12-15 range, this incoming class (if it sticks together) should make a bigger impact in terms of performance. It addresses two positions in need of a significant upgrade in a big way (OL & LB). The OL additions alone would enable a more balanced offense with an effective power run game. That is a game changer. The LB additions should finally give us a stout front 7 (not just a DL & DBs with little in the middle). The class could however use some quality additions on the DL and at WR and DB. If Mario can pull that off (with the right support), the class should move into the Top 10. The staff needs to crush it in recruiting this year. Critical for the trajectory of the program.

Jimbo has kept selling the same poopoo for a few years now at A&M and look at the results. All the talent will not mask **** poor coaching and outdated concepts... just sayin...

make up for the lack of recruits is an issue. its partly why we gave Mario so much money. hes supposed to eb the recruiter. he is good at it, but we need a top 5-7 class if were gonna go sub 500 this year. you can't lose and not bring in anything short of an elite class if youre gonna be the recruiting HC

This is where Zo needs to earn his dollars. He obviously helped in finding the Colbie Young’s of the world - we just need to get about 12-15 of our kids the **** out and replace with kids who will buyin to the system and play how we need to in order to win.

It's not about the class ranking. In the past even when we had top 10 classes they were full of misses. The evaluation needs to take a major leap forward and quickly or else we're toast. The portal helps a lot but it can't fix everything. Need to hit on our top guys and even unearth a handful of 3 star gems consistently to be back.
